Job Description

An exciting opportunity has become available, we are now recruiting for a Van Sales Manager to join our busy and vibrant team at Team Valley. Here at Bell Truck and Van we all strive to be the absolute best and offer our customers the highest level of service.As well as having great people skills, you will need to be a proven team player, you will represent Bell Truck and Van in a positive and professional manner. You will manage your team to ensure they are independently prospecting clients, managing sales calls and targets and are up to date. You will monitor achievement of sales targets, develop, motivate and performance manage team members to ensure targetsare met and results presented at meetings. You will oversee the successful operation of the Van Sales Department ensuring that the department achieves volume and profit objectives and KPIs as set by the Company and MBUK. You will work towards and assist theDirectors in achievement of the Company Mission Statement goals, to help with the smooth and efficient running of the department.Key duties:

  • To be first point of contact for sales executives, to escalate to Managing Director if further help is required
  • To hold sales meetings and ensure Van Pro requirements are continuously met in respect of the new and used vehicle displays, line-ups with correct marketing material and model mix displayed and demo vehicle display and signage
  • To hold regular one-to-one meetings with each sales executive to go through current leads, opportunities and lost sales on Salesforce and update accordingly
  • To attend customer meetings with sales executives and second face as and when required
  • To manage training of staff and mentor apprentices if required
  • To monitor stock levels and stock values in line with the Managing Directors recommendation
  • To monitor profitability against budget
  • To ensure that all expenses and purchases are signed off in line with Company procedures
  • To visit customers when appropriate and develop customer relationships and maintain customer base - ensure sales staff do the same
  • To adhere to BTS complaint procedures and ensure that all customer queries and problems are dealt with quickly, also take prompt action to stop complaints/queries re-occurring wherever possible
  • To ensure that there is sufficient cover for the department at all times in order to provide a first-class service to our customers
  • To ensure that Sales department achieves dealer standards and BER as set by MBUK
  • To ensure that all staff are appropriately trained to the required standard by means of e.g. carrying out the company appraisal scheme, mentoring and coaching, discussing appropriate development and training plans, and ensure they achieve their PDPs.
  • To organise annual certification of staff as required, and ensure all certificates are up to date and to ensure accurate payment of wages
  • To attend marketing/promotional events as and when required
  • To sell new and used Mercedes-Benz Vito, Sprinter, and Citan vans and chassis cabs within established areas at or above pre-determined gross profit margins
  • To prospect for new business within areas of influence on a weekly basis and update records/database
  • To adhere to Bell Truck Sales’ selling system i.e. qualification, presentation, demonstration, part exchange appraisal, price negotiation (after consultation with Sales Manager) and close
  • To complete factually weekly prospects and return, maintain regular contact with existing customers building good customer relationships, and ensure that all relevant information is added to company database
  • To process and monitor orders and liaise regularly with sales admin, to ensure that deadlines are met, keeping customer updated with progress of order and any delays
  • To ensure that the demonstrator fleet is effectively used to maximise sales
  • To ensure that credit references are undertaken on all new customers, obtaining finance approval for any variances to normal procedures and that customers are on the approved list and that credit terms have approval
  • To have a comprehensive up to date knowledge of the products on sale, together with details of competitor vehicles
  • To explain financing and leasing opportunities and insurances and conclude / arrange relevant contracts
  • Ensure that stock vehicles and demonstrators are presented to highest possible standards
  • Liaise with subcontractors to ensure quality of work ad price competitiveness (always issue a work order relating to registration number and stock)
  • Understand and work within company’s vehicle payment policy without exception
  • Ensure all stock presented has - price, mileage disclaimer, specification sheet, ready for work sticker (service reminder) is fully valeted
