Job Description

Our client is looking for a Credit Controller to join their team in Gateshead. You will be joining a historic, family owned business that is built on quality, service, and reliability.Credit Control Administrator Gateshead NE11 0HGFull-time, Permanent37.5 hrs Monday - Friday£19,000.00-£20,000.00 per yearPlease Note: Applicants must be eligible to work in the UKOur client is the oldest independent supplier to the fish & chip market in the UK, based in Gateshead, Tyne & Wear.In addition to fish and chip shops, they supply Chinese, Indian and Italian takeaways and restaurants.Our clients products include frying oils and fats, frozen-at-sea cod and haddock, a variety of frozen foods, batter flours, pizza products, packaging, equipment and cleaning materials.As a family business servicing family businesses, they are very keen to build and strengthen relationships with their customers. They have local sales managers in all of their delivery areas, supported by an equally experienced team of telesales personnel.About the Credit Controller Role:Reporting to the Customer Accounts Manager, you will be responsible for the administration of customer accounts to ensure correct allocation, input and submission of payments for banking.You will be setting up and administrating new customer accounts and maintenance of existing customer records, responding to customer queries and general administration tasks.Responsibilities include: Accurate input and posting of customer payments. Preparation and input of customer credit notes. Opening new customer accounts and maintenance of existing customer accounts. Liaising with drivers, customers and sales to resolve account queries. Data input, production and distribution of Sales Managers reports. Dealing with internal customer account queries. Maintaining customer diary updates. Taking card payments. Generating and issuing direct debit letters / trade reference letters / new customer packs. Releasing accounts on credit held for reception accounts only. Weekly checking/processing of save and select redemptions (our customer loyalty scheme). Preparation and posting of supplier save and select invoices. Preparation and processing of Direct Debits. Responding to emails highlighted by the Accounts Controller. Responding to overspill calls in the Accounts Department. Printing the weekly report for unallocated payments. To cover Customer Accounts Manager / Customer Accounts Controller role functions in their absence/if they are busy. Cover for the Cash Office.Skills and Qualifications: GCSEs 5-7 (A-C) Maths and English Excellent communication and financial administration skills. Excellent problem-solving skills. Ability to correctly follow complex financial procedures. Good understanding of financial payment processes and procedures. Computer literate with Microsoft Office products. Ability to work independently or as part of a team. Ability to work to deadlines. Excellent telephone manner and the ability to be extremely patientAbout You: Minimum 12 months experience in a similar role. Prior knowledge of Credit control admin processes Able to develop good working relationships and communicate effectively. Able to work as a member of a team. Self-motivated and resilient Attention to detail Accurate whilst being able to meet and exceed deadlines Flexible and willing to adapt working pattern depending on operational demandsCOVID-19 To keep employees safe the client follows government guidance and have a comprehensive risk assessment in place.
