Welcome to Devon Partnership Trust! We would like to invite you to apply for the Consultant Psychiatrist post in General Adult Community working in a predominantly rural area. The patch is based in the historic market town of Tavistock and covers the Devon/Cornwall border, Tamar valley and the western portion of the Dartmoor National Park.This is a General Adult Psychiatry Community Mental Health Team Post. It is an exciting time to join integrated care pathways for community services in Devon Partnership NHS Trust (DPT) as we start to work innovatively with primary care to implement the New Community Framework for Mental Health. DPT is a research active organization. We would also welcome applications from academically orientated doctors who wish to pursue this aspect of their career. An honorary contract with the University of Exeter would be available for suitable qualified colleagues. This post comes with the option of spending fully funded and remunerated time on research activity subject to approval by the Deputy Medical Director and the Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Exeter Medical School.Patient safety and Quality Improvement are key aspects of the role and training will be provided if required. Programmed Activities are negotiable for research, teaching, medical management and other special interests.You will take part in on-call rota and other consultants from the area will be expected to provide cross-cover for leave.You will be well supported by a dedicated full-time medical staffing department.This post is suitable as a first NHS consultant, an existing or post-retirement consultant with a broad level of general adult psychiatric expertise. International candidates are welcome to apply. Experience of working in adult community mental health services is preferable but support will be given to doctors wishing to move from other psychiatric specialties or roles.Approved Clinician status at appointment is preferable but those who would be eligible eg doctors applying from abroad, will be supported to obtain this authority.We have excellent IT and full electronic record across our services and are in the process of a clinician-led design of our own clinical record system.A mentor and peer group will be provided.
