Job Description

Our client, a Freight Forwarding and Logistics company are currently seeking a Customs Coordinator for their team based in Birmingham.The role of the Customs Coordinator is to assist in all areas of customs, overseeing the dispatching of goods, coordinating Import and Export activities, and ensuring the timely clearance of goods.On a day-to-day basis, you will be liaising with customers, suppliers and agents to communicate an issues regarding business activities.Other duties and responsibilities:

  • Raise paperwork regarding all movements of Dangerous Goods.
  • Communicate with Customs legal counsel on a regular basis, checking Export controls and licensing requirements.
  • Check invoices for both import and export brokerage.
  • Ensure Freight and courier invoices are costed correctly.
  • Ensure all HM Revenue & Customs duty liabilities are fulfilled, minimising cost.
  • Ensure the claims department are given all immediately.
  • Deal with high volumes of data entry on spreadsheets.
  • Any other ad hoc tasks as requested by the Line Manager.
The successful Customs Coordinator will have at least 2 years experience of Imports / Exports and Customs Compliance and regulations, with a focus on UK and EU Imports.Skills, Experience and Competencies required:
  • Knowledge / experience of Road Transport, Logistics or haulage.
  • Strong IT skillscan confidently use Ms packages.
  • Knowledge of HMRC amendment and reclaim.
