Job Description

Are you a dynamic Design & Technology Teacher looking for the next challenge in your career Are you a NQT looking to secure your first role in secondary DT educationReed Education Cardiff are currently recruiting for a Teacher of Design Technology with the ability to engage learners across Key Stage Three and Four.The successful candidate will join a forward-thinking department, who are fully committed to innovative teaching methods, which motivate and engage all students. You must be able to teach across the whole ability range and must bring enthusiasm and expertise to the teaching of DT to KS3 and KS4. This is the ideal post for a candidate who wishes to develop their skills and broaden their experience within a supportive environment with extensive facilities and equipment.This opportunity has a post Easter start date fixed for 12 months maternity leave contract, with a permanent contract opening at the end of the contract completion.The school, based in the Swansea LEA, has over 1000 pupils on roll and has excellent, modern facilities after its recent upgrade. You would be expected to participate and lead extra-curricular opportunities for DT and out-of-classroom context provision for learning. Uptake for DT is fairly steady meaning you will be afforded the opportunity to personalise learning with a purposeful and manageable group of learners who have a sincere desire to enhance their understanding of theory and practice.To be considered for the role, you will be/will have:

  • A qualified teacher (QTS status);
  • A good honours degree or equivalent in DT or another related subject;
  • Experience of delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences up to KS4 (KS5 desirable);
  • A sincere desire to see all pupils improve and strategies to ensure positive attainment;
  • Effective class management with pupils at all levels;
  • Tenacious attitude with a devotion to self-improvement;
  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
