Job Description

Tradewind Recruitment, a renowned education recruitment agency, is currently seeking a dedicated One-to-One SEN Assistant for a rewarding position at a mainstream primary school in St. Helens. This role involves working closely with a child in Key Stage1 who requires additional support to maximise their educational experience.As a One-to-One SEN Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing personalised support to the identified student, ensuring their individual needs are met and enabling them to fully participate in classroom activities. Your commitment to inclusiveeducation, empathy, and adaptability will contribute to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.Key Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with the identified student, providing one-to-one support according to their individual Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP)
  • Assisting the student with academic tasks, including literacy, numeracy, and other subject areas
  • Implementing specific strategies and interventions to support the students learning and development
  • Collaborating with the class teacher and SENCo to adapt lesson materials and differentiate instruction
  • Supporting the student in social interactions and promoting positive behaviour management strategies
  • Monitoring and recording the students progress, providing feedback to the teacher and SENCo
This is a term-time position, Monday to Friday, with working hours from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. The role will commence on September 4th and continue until December. For the right candidate, there is a possibility of a permanent job opportunity.Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant or SEN Assistant, preferably in a Key Stage 1 setting
  • Knowledge and understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Ability to build rapport and establish a trusting relationship with the student
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt teaching approaches to suit individual needs
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with teachers and other professionals
  • A positive and proactive attitude towards supporting students with additional needs
