Job Description

Job Title: Chief Quality Inspector Salary: £30k - £33KLocation: Sutton-In-AshfieldRoleThe role of the Chief Inspector is to supervise the Inspection Department to provide Quality Control and manually inspect products and equipment to validate the conformity of manufactured and received parts to recognised standards and fit, form and functionto Aerospace, Nuclear, Medical or Automotive standards all with high tolerances and can operate the companys CNC CMM machines due to practical industry experience.Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Checking for First Off and completion of First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) details
  • Conducting Route Cause Investigations and handling Customer Non-Conformances
  • Advise upon inspection quantities, statistical analysis and methodology
  • Experience with CMM, hands on with programmable CMM machines with PC-DMIS software
  • Knowledge of geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Capable of reading and interpreting blueprints, part prints and drawings.
  • Working to AS9100 / EASA Part 21 (G) standards (ideal).
  • Must be conversant with Fabrication, welding and CNC machine shop activities
  • Be able to resolve dimensional issues and put corrective actions in place.
  • To programme, operate and run programs on the CMM in order to verify the dimensional accuracy of components, dies, component parts, according to CAD data and tool/part print specifications.
  • Create short programs for small parts of low complexity.
  • Ensure calibration of the machines is carried out in the correct manner.
  • To carry out first off inspection for components that require going through the CMM.
  • Operate the QTC on the shop-floor
The Candidate:
  • Engineering Qualification / apprenticeship
  • Previous work experience as a Quality Inspector in Aerospace or similar role
  • Auditing to AS9100 / EASA Part 21 (G) standards
  • Ability to understand contract review process and support the strategy and scope
  • Team working skills coupled with the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
  • Flexible and forward thinker with a can do attitude
  • Works well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
