Job Description

To work as part of a team providing high quality care and support to service users to remain independent as possible in the home, reflecting the objectives of the home’s philosophy of Care.To assist service users with activities of daily living as per their personalised assessment and care plan. To provide a range of care and ancillary tasks in accordance with care policies, standards and procedures.To plan, implement and supervise the provision of quality care, in conjunction with service users. To ensure service users retain their dignity and individuality.To be a senior member of staff involved in the general activities of the care home.To maintain a safe and secure environment for service users, staff and relatives.Main duties and responsibilities

  1. Ensure the highest possible levels of care are maintained by supporting/assisting service users, when required, with all aspects of daily living.
  2. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels i.e. nurses, GP’s relatives and others
  3. Take on the role of key worker for a set of service users.
  4. Respect the individual rights and choices of clients.
  5. Respond to the differing cultural values and diversity of clients.
  6. Communicate effectively with colleagues and managers
  7. Assist service users in all aspects of their care needs (e.g. physical, emotional and spiritual), ensuring Service users retain their comfort and dignity.
  8. Pay particular attention to assisting Service users who have limited mobility or physical / dementia difficulties making the best use of aids provided.
  9. Closely monitor Service users who may be confused and/or who have behavioural problems.
  10. Assist in the delivery of care for Service users who are dying or who have a progressive illness.
  11. Assist in framework of social activities by interacting with Service users and helping them continue with hobbies and activities in the Care home.
  12. Carry out regular checks on Service users at intervals determined by care manager.
  13. Make all visitors/relatives feel welcome. Provide refreshments/assistance as and when required.
Communication:
  • Participate in Staff and service user meetings as and when required.
  • Training and Development:
  • Maintain professional knowledge and competence.
  • Attend mandatory training days/courses, on or off site, as and when required.
  • Participate in relevant N/SVQ training to achieve required qualifications.
