Job Description

Founded in Ireland in 2010, our Nationwide Client has a rich history spanning a full decade of delivering software, consultancy, and IT Managed Services; they have a strong track record with government and commercial companies across the world. Over time, this business has expanded into IT Managed Services including running significant government environments since 2014.Duties for the Cloud Technical Services Engineer will include:

  • Day to day management of the data centre and MS Azure environments including patching, backup management and proactive maintenance
  • Capacity, availability and performance management for application environments
  • Provisioning of VM and Azure environments
  • Building out a comprehensive Event Management framework including alert automation and remediation
  • Developing the service catalogue for hosting services e.g. resource provisioning
  • Identifying potential activities for orchestration and working with other teams to implement
  • Population of knowledge base with run books, operational procedures and how-to’s
  • Developing, supporting and mentoring other team members in technical and service operations best practice
  • Must be willing to support the client on an on-call rota basis 24x7x365
    • Skills required for the Cloud Technical Services Engineer:
  • Education/Qualifications in one or more of the following - Microsoft, Citrix, Hyper-V, Commvault or other relevant certifications
  • Advanced configuration, troubleshooting and resolution across enterprise platform technologies
  • Private Cloud - VMware, Commvault or equivalent compute and storage technologies
  • Cisco data centre networking and Fortinet network security
  • Public Cloud - Microsoft Azure including resource provisioning and management
  • Microsoft ExpressRoute
  • Backup - Veeam. Azure backup
  • Discovery, Orchestration and Event Management
  • Cloud management - Cloud resource and service provisioning
  • Service Management - experience of working within Change and Release frameworks
  • Knowledge of public / private cloud architecture and design principles
  • IaaS / PaaS / SaaS
  • Azure Automation, Azure Identity, Azure Security & Networking
  • PowerShell & Developing ARM templates
  • Azure SQL, DB, SQL Data Warehouse, Active Directory Services, Azure App Services, App Service Environments (ASE)
  • Azure Readiness Assessment toolset, Azure Back Up, Azure Migrate, Azure Security Centre
  • Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) from Microsoft
    • Interpersonal Skills required for the Cloud Technical Services Engineer:
  • A high level of self-motivation together with a willingness to learn new skills
  • A flexible and enthusiastic approach to the job
  • Good problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Can demonstrate exceptional levels of customer service and care
  • Good communication, organisation, and presentation skills
  • Strong time management and coordination skills
  • A full driving license - preferably clean, however consideration will be given to people with low number of points

  • Salary - £25,000 - £35,000
  • This is a "Work from home role" - Travel expenses are covered for any commuting
  • The nominal working week is 37.5 hours, although a degree of flexibility is both offered and expected.
