Job Description

SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPISTCHILDREN’S SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPY (CSLT) Band 722.5 hours per week - Term Time Only (TTO) (52 week contract considered) Welcome to Your Healthcare CIC, we are a not for profit social enterprise, proud of delivering patient-led, high quality health and social care community services for residents in the Borough of Kingston, as part of the NHS family.Your Healthcare is located in the South West of London within the Royal Borough of Kingston. Working as a Community Interest Company (CIC), our status allows us to invest any surplus or profit back into front line services, where it is needed most by you, our community.Your Healthcare’s CSLT service consists of Speech and Language Therapists, equating to a WTE of 21, and Assistants based together at Hollyfield House. Our service covers children and young people up to age 19 in all settings across the Royal Borough of Kingston-Upon-Thames, e.g., nurseries, playgroups, mainstream and specialist schools, health centres, a Child Development Centre and homes.Our team puts the children and families at the centre of everything we offer, where you make the clinical decision as to what is required and deliver quality, evidence based SLT. We have strong relationships with our Commissioners and partnership organisations such as education, health and social care. You would be working as part of a well-established dynamic team and would therefore gain invaluable knowledge, skills and experience.We have an excellent opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Speech and Language Therapist (SaLT) to work for 3 days a week within the Children’s Speech and Language Therapy team at Dysart School, a special school for children with severe learning difficulties (mainly Autism). SaLT resource for the school includes this post, a Band 6 SaLT and 2 highly experienced SaLT Assistants.Within Dysart, you will be integral to shaping the service provided to the school and working collaboratively with the staff to meet the needs of the pupils. You will take a leading role in delivering effective services to ensure positive outcomes for children and families. You will have opportunity to develop new and innovative ways of working and further develop clinical and leadership skills. You will also provide support to a Band 6 SLT based at a local Specialist Resource Provision (SRP) for children with similar difficulties to those attending Dysart School.As a band 7 therapist you will be part of the service development and evaluation and work closely with the Frontline Support Team (Team Leads and Service Lead) develop and implement of service objectives/projects/initiatives and to measure performance and evaluate the success of these initiatives.We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Therapist who enjoys working as part of a team, has experience of working with children and young people severe learning difficulties (SLD), the majority of whom have an autism spectrum disorder (ASD), as well as a range of other special needs. Experience of working with children/young people with food aversion would be beneficial. You will be required to have experience of working collaboratively with school staff, parents and other MDT colleagues. You will have proven leadership skills and qualities in order to ensure development, growth and sustainability of the service.Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, AAC, PODD, Attention Autism and Intensive Interaction is essential.You will be working in a friendly and supportive working environment, and will be able to access training and development opportunities. You will receive regular supervision and peer support and contribute to the direction and development of the whole service.
