Job Description

**Learning Support Assistants - Teaching Assistants - 1:1 Support - Special Needs Assistants - Drama Graduates - Sports Coaches - Aspiring Trainee Teachers**£16,000 - £20,000 Term Time only - Starting after EasterDo you enjoy working within a team and helping young people to achieveWe are supporting a local Outstanding Special Needs School in Surbiton to find enthusiastic Special Needs assistants to support pupils with a variety of needs.Starfyn Education currently have a range of exciting full-time positions starting after Easter. These positions are across all Key Stages and include 1:1 support and whole class support roles.Your main duties will include:

  • inspiring and engaging with young adults with a range of additional learning needs
  • working on a 1:1 to or group basis to support learning
  • preparing materials, equipment and lessons
  • assisting with the personal care needs of pupils; this may include feeding, changing and manual handling
  • liaising with parents, carers and professionals such as teachers, education welfare officers, social workers and Healthcare professionals
    • The following skills and qualifications are desired:
  • experience within Autism (ASD) and/or Social, Emotional Mental Health (SEMH)
  • PECs and Makaton experience
  • trained in TEACCH, Team Teach/MAPA
  • Strong communication skills with pupils and staff
  • First Aid trained
  • ability to use own initiative where necessary
