Job Description

Pension Scheme AccountantManchester/Hybrid£35-45k plus benefits/study support (dependentonexperience)This well-established business with offices across the UK is looking to expand its team due to continued growth.Great opportunity for either a fully qualified or part qualified accountant to prepare pension accounts for their clients.Key responsibilities

  • Successful candidates must be willing to learn and have a sound working knowledge of double entry bookkeeping.
  • Updating the accounting system with transactions and journals
  • Obtaining valuation and disclosure information on scheme investments
  • Calculation of accruals and prepayments
  • Reconciliation of pension payroll, investments, contributions to accounting records
  • Perform client take-on
  • Preparation of a trial balance
  • Preparation of cash analysis for admin reports and FRS102
  • First draft of accounts for pension schemes including preparing the Trustee’s Report, financial statements, and notes from underlying information
  • Liaising with internal Administration, Actuarial and Investment teams to obtain information necessary for drafting accounts.
  • Preparation of audit files
  • Liaising with auditors and Trustees to resolve audit queries.
  • Perform ISO9001 audit.
  • Progression to reviewing other team members’ pension scheme accounts.
Candidate Requirements
  • Fully Qualified or Part Qualified ACA/ACCA
  • Proven experience in double entry bookkeeping
  • Working knowledge of pension scheme accounting or working in accountancy practice with experience of accounts preparation for clients
  • Attention to detail with excellent numerical skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal admin, actuarial and investment teams, investment managers, auditors and trustees.
  • Ability to meet deadlines with a focus on first class customer service.
