Job Description

Paid Volunteer, Befriender & Companion, South Manchester & North TraffordIf you are looking for a new and rewarding career for 2020, then we could have what you are looking for. Do you have an unfulfilling job role that you want to swap for a job for life Maybe you are retired/semi-retired, and you are looking for a role where you can give something back A role where you can help an older person living in their own home stay independent If so, then becoming one of our Paid Volunteer Befriender & Companioncould be perfect for you.We have part-time roles available in the Chorlton and Whalley Range, Burnage, Stretford, Didsbury, West Didsbury, Urmston, Old Trafford and Flixton areas of Manchester. It is essential that you are have a driving licence and access to a vehicle. We have a value led approach, so we need people with compassion, empathy and big hearts. This is an example of the work our amazing team do:"I came across this role when my children had grown up and left the nest and didn?t need me as much. I wanted something that was rewarding but that I could also split between spending time with my Grandchildren. I looked after my terminally ill Mum and I wanted to do something where I could provide comfort to other families and give them assurance that there?s always a helping hand there for their Mum or Dad. This role was just what I was looking for. I support a few older adults in the area and each day is different. One of my clients Olive says she can?t wait for my visits and greets me with a hug every day, and that makes my day. Some mornings I will help her get out of bed, get washed and help make her breakfast. I thought I would struggle with the personal care part of the role, but I don?t. I realise it is no different to what I would do for a friend or relative and can be as simple as brushing her hair or help her finish getting dressed. Olive is living with early onset Dementia and would always sing just a few lines from her favourite song, but she can?t remember the name. I found out what it was called and now we play it on my visits, it?s now also become my favourite. This isn?t a job, it?s a privilege and I?m proud to do this and work for a marvellous company."Be part of something specialWe are an award-winning national brand who focus on a companionship led care service providing a minimum of 1-hour home visits to a purely private client base, but the focus being on companionship, home help and personal care. We have won multiple awards over the years and have built an excellent reputation within communities across the UK. Our Director started the service to make a difference and knows how difficult it can be to find support for your loved ones. The idea is to make sure the service is high-quality, person centred, never rushed and we all share the same wonderful values.Pay rates, hours & benefits
