Job Description

Art Teacher roleAn exciting and new opportunity has opened up in a Trafford school. The small specialist school are seeking an ambitious Art teacher to join their supportive art department. They are looking for an outstanding teacher and you will in turn work in an environmentwhere you can have the opportunity to develop your skills. This school is a specialist SEMH school, so experience working in this environment would be an advantage.The role is to work from December 2023Job role:You will have to provide learning activities appropriate to the age of the students in order to develop an interest in and ability for creative expression. To develop an understanding and appreciation of art in each student and to:

  • Plan and prepare learning activities and guide students towards the achievement of curriculum and district objectives.
  • Develop a program to meet the needs, abilities and interests of students.
  • Use a range of instructional techniques and media consistent with available resources and student needs and capabilities.
  • Expand the students use of individual and collaborative strategies to generate concepts and ideas and incorporate new technologies and tools in the creative process.
  • Teach students how to identify elements and techniques used to create concepts and to apply elements of design and modern principles of art.
  • Further the students knowledge of visual arts and media through art theory and history
  • Develop an aesthetic understanding and appreciation that allows students to make qualitative judgements about art and enable students to create a functional portfolio of their art works.
  • Plan, coordinate and prepare art displays and exhibitions for the school and community.
  • Evaluate each students performance on a continual basis.
  • Ensure the required standards of classroom management and student behaviour are met.
Education and Experience
  • QTS/QTLS or equivalent in Art or a related subject
  • Experience teaching in UK, and understand the KS3 and KS4 curriculum
  • An understanding of children with additional needs
  • Be able to provide reference details to cover 2 years of work/education
  • Interest from NQT’s or more experienced teachers is welcome.
