Job Description

We are searching for a Curriculum Manager to take on a fantastic opportunity in one of the prisons we are supporting. If you are passionate about education and are looking for a new, challenging opportunity, this is the perfect role for you!Role Details:

  • Full Time- 37 Hours per week
  • Working hours 8:30am- 5pm
  • £30000-£35000 Salary
  • Permanent Role
  • To work in the Vocational Department (Catering, Hospitality, Food Safety, Barbering and Art)

  • You will be accountable to the Education Manager for the effective management of the curriculum and to take the establishment lead for quality assurance and improvement within your curriculum area.
  • Developing and promoting a curriculum which meets the identified needs of learners and employers and which may include the effective delivery of Functional Skills, personal and social development and work-based programmes
  • Managing teaching and support staff using the full range of HR strategies in order to maximise student success and the efficiency of the provision
  • Supervising staff to ensure their suitability via application of probationary, appraisal and professional development procedures
  • Develop a standardised learning and skills programme in line with the needs of the prison population and the needs of employers ensuring parity across both sites, meeting both Ofsted and Ministry of Justice requirements.
  • The management team has responsibility for day to day operation of Education Department. This includes relates specifically to management of learners, particularly their induction, allocation to classes and conduct within the department.
  • You will maintain and develop positive internal and external partnerships and attend meetings as required by the Education Manager.
  • You will be required to deliver teaching sessions as required.
  • The Assistant manager will deputize in the absence of the Education Manager, and may have responsibility for a specific site in multi-site establishments dealing with issues that arise on a day to day basis.
The Ideal Candidate:
  • A relevant first degree and/or professional qualification and a teaching qualification
  • Evidence of continuous professional development together with the ability to develop and manage an achievement-focussed team
  • Persuasive and supportive leadership and staff management skills
  • The ability to identify and implement continuous improvements to the curriculum in line with the needs and demands of learners and employers.
  • An innovative approach and proactive style together with highly developed communication skills and the natural ability to influence others.
  • A commitment to the Reduction of Re-Offending through Education and Skills
  • Significant teaching experience
  • Successful experience of managing curriculum development and change, quality systems, processes and the performance of teaching staff in ways which have improved learner outcomes
