Job Description

Hitachi ABB Power Grids has an exciting home-based opportunity for someone ready for a new challenge within their career. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for decarbonisation and sustainability across the UK transport sector and can develop relationships easily and ability excite and think outside the box.Reporting to the Sector Lead: Transport and Infrastructure, you will have the opportunity to help drive the growth and shape the future of decarbonisation of transport in the UK through HAPG products and solutions. Your responsibilities will include adoption, and market penetration of a fast, dynamic market. The ideal candidate will possess EV sector knowledge with an emphasis on public transport /HGV’s and fleets with a business background, sales, management, and technical background that enables them to engage with clients at the senior executive level, energy line of business leaders as well as with engineering procurement managers.Key Requirements:

  • Sales strategy - Ensures Business Unit marketing and sales strategy are implemented. Creates plans and implements sales strategy, and strategic sales and business development initiatives, in alignment with sector sales strategy. Achieves sales targets in respect of both budgets and sales efficiency.
  • Sales targets - Establishes sales targets and ensures sales achievement through regular oversight and definition and implementation of improvement plans as needed.
  • New opportunities - In collaboration with the sales team generates and identifies leads by analyzing the potential and targeting those new opportunities from emerging trends with the solutions available. Determines account and acquisition plans to support growth.
  • Appreciation of market drivers and the effect of current and future government regulation and identify the opportunities and challenges
  • A proactive, collaborative self-starter, working across business units and disciplines
  • Business acumen and effective decision making that challenge the status quo and deliver business goals
  • Ability to self-manage
  • Customer approach - Responsible for exploring and developing new business opportunities, managing the successful development of offers, building strong and effective relationships with appropriate contacts, and project managing specific elements of strategic projects, whilst exercising a sound combination of commercial and technical rigor to help achieve growth objectives Identifies opportunities at existing and potential new customers within a defined geographical area, and determines plans for acquisition and allocates resources.
  • Sales process - Takes ownership of the sales processes, and all relevant training and development plans, actions, and programs.
  • Ability to demonstrate a well-developed commercial acumen and have a resourceful approach to building a pipeline and developing relationships to identify the most relevant leads.
  • Comfortable developing insights to address customer challenges and developing the messaging to the client.
  • Natural bias for ongoing customer relationships, ensuring future development making sure their needs and level of satisfaction are constantly monitored.
  • An understanding that one size does not fit all and has the ability to develop multi-product/ solution and service offerings for specific clients.
  • Excited to be involved in a clean, substantial, decarbonised environment.
  • Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proven Business Development experience in a similar environment to ours.
  • Postgraduate in Business Development or similar.
  • Experience and existing knowledge of the EV sector with an emphasis on public transport /HGV’s.
  • Understanding of customer fleet de-carbonization strategies and tactical objectives.
  • Understanding of the customer challenges with the ability to identify and develop value propositions on time and in line with expectations.
  • Previous experience in leading negotiations and presenting to strategic accounts.
  • The ability to quickly learn and talk confidently about a technical solution.
  • Experience in driving the adoption of new technologies and solutions preferred.
