Job Description

Brief Description of Role (i.e. purpose of role) Manage and develop the teams to ensure BTL has the most competitive, efficient supplier base and prices accordingly to gain new or secure existing business. Ensure system developments on track to automate processes. Ensure company values in place acrossboth team at all times.Key Activities & ResponsibilitiesKey Activity 1 - Health and Safety Responsible for ones own, co-workers and stakeholders health and safetyKey Activity 2 - Team(s) Management Lead analysis of current supplier volumes, KPIs and market with the aim of negotiating with suppliers to obtain best pricing model. Monitor and track market trends and availability to pay the best price for services without impacting service levels. Identifyand research potential new suppliers, services and routes. Liaise with internal department heads to ensure suggested suppliers, services and routes are fit for purpose.Key Activity 3 - Procurement (DS & SS) Serve as daily escalation point for members of the S&P team. Organise and document weekly team meetings to share best practice and keep all team members up to date with latest developments. Hold monthly 1-2-1 meeting with each team member to discuss performanceand future development.Key Activity 4 - Tender Management Own the tender management process to ensure deadlines are met and workload is delegated accordingly within the S&P team. Organise and lead all related meetings, oversee the documentation of any feedback for better market understanding and proactively negotiatewith suppliers to gain competitive advantage.Key Activity 5 - Process Automation Look at all internal processes with dept and work closely with IT to ensure we have the most efficient & automated processes established to ensure an effective, streamlined output assisting the business.Selection CriteriaEffective management and delegationGood understanding of our supplier network and business flowsGood organisation with attention to detail a mustExperiencePrevious roles in managing teamsFamiliarisation of global intermodal networkHistory of managing, negotiating and developing relationships with suppliersCompetenciesEffective communicator, both internally and externallyAbility to manage time and execute all tasks in prioritised structure considering deadlinesStrategic ThinkerPersonal Attributes & other requirementsCalm under pressureExcellent team player demonstrating loyalty and commitment to the organisation and team membersAppetite for finding solutions and better ways of working
