Job Description

Brief Description of Role (i.e. purpose of role)To source, book, schedule and plan trucking resource across a specified area or region in budget, and with a principal focus on customer service.Key Activities & ResponsibilitiesKey Activity 1 - Health & SafetyResponsible for ones own, co-workers and stakeholders health and safety.Key Activity 2 - PlanningEffectively plan a combination of in-house and 3rd-party truck fleets in a cost-effective manner, targeting high customer service levels, cost reductions, and achievement of required truck revenues. Consider budgetary parameters throughout all decision making.Manage supplier instructions for, but not limited to, trucking, tank-cleaning and product heating.Key Activity 3 - CommunicationBuild positive and beneficial supplier relationships, particularly with key Approved Hauliers. Work in tandem with the regional tank-planner to ensure effective decision making at all times in terms of trucking resource requirements versus tank stock resourcerequirements. A key element of this role. Liaise closely and positively with other members of the Operations Team regarding equipment resource, intermodal services, and depot services. Liaise closely and positively with the Customer Service Teams regardingcustomer requirements, changes, challenges and delays.Key Activity 4 - AdministrationAssist the Cost Control function with job status management and costs incurred by maintaining the BTL planning system with accurate and informative information in relation to deviations from budgeted plans.Selection Criteria E/D* *Essential/DesirableQualifications, Skills and KnowledgeCompetent in the use of ERP Planning system and Microsoft Packages, outlook, excel etc. EGood Geographical knowledge ERelevant industry training - ADR, CPC DExperiencePrevious roles in transport planning or within logistics industry ECompetenciesEffective communicator, both internally and externally EAbility to manage time and execute all tasks in prioritised structure EGrow and develop relationships with suppliers EPersonal Attributes & other requirementsAble to withstand high pressure situations EExcellent team player demonstrating loyalty and commitment to the organisation and team members E
