Brief Description of Role Monitor loaded import arrivals from deepsea ports into the UK and EU that require an onward rail movement, coordinating with the customs teams to ensure clearance is completed, checking online terminal portals make sure tanks are released for bookings tobe placed with the rail operators.Making rail bookings in Europe both to/from Benelux area, track and monitor departures and arrivals and keeping the tank plan accurate and up to date.Key Activities & Responsibilities (Level Basic / Intermediate / Advanced)Key Activity 1- Team Management approx. % time - 70Working alongside EU Ops and Commercial to make sure any loaded import tanks with onward rail movements are booked in advance for customs clearance to secure rail space, and route to final place of delivery as soon as possible. Coordinate with the BTL CustomsTeams for clearance once the tanks have arrived at port of discharge in the UK/EU. Daily discussions with UK transport to decide which areas the loaded tanks need to be railed based around on trucking resource availably whilst utilizing various suppliers.Alongside your manager review areas requiring improvement and design, implement and monitor improvement plans if/when applicableKey Activity 2- Service Delivery approx. % time - 15Gain knowledge of other functions within the business. Pro-activelysuggest any system / process improvements to improve performance of the team / business. This includes testing of new areas of the system prior to implementation and effectively communicate these to all relevant departments.Key Activity 3- Supplier Management approx. % time - 5Develop and evolve rail supplier relationships in both the UK and Europe.Key Activity 4- Cost Process / Financial monitoring approx. % time - 10Selection Criteria DesirableCompetent in the use of I.T. system, outlook, excel etc.Good geographical knowledgeReasonable level of mathematics and ability to perform basic calculationsExperience Has good experience of managing a team of direct reportsPrevious roles in cost management or within logistics industryExperience of managing a range of tasks in a prioritised structureCompetenciesEffective communicator, both internally and externallyConsistently accurate and a keen eye for detailPersonal Attributes & other requirements Calm under pressureWilling to travel and on occasion, work unsociable hoursEssentialAble to build beneficial relationships with supplier base / customer baseAn ability to work well under pressure
