Brief Description of Role (i.e. purpose of role)To manage the status of intermodal movements (ship / rail / barge) within a defined region, helping to drive efficient and effective resource planning, and the maintenance and improvement of customer service levels.Key Activities & ResponsibilitiesKey Activity 1 - Health & SafetyResponsible for ones own, co-workers and stakeholders health and safety.Key Activity 2 - Movement ManagementManage regional vessel, rail and barge movements and arrivals via various platforms - e-mail / on-line portals / EDI / Port systems (i.e. Destin8)Maintain planning system in relations to delays / changes.Manage daily manifest checks to ensure bookings are known and accurate to allow for drop-off or pick-up. Resolve live issues relating to incorrect and/or missing information like drop & pick-up refs to minimise trucking delays and wasted costs.Prioritise order & movement management based on urgency / importance, working in tandem with Planning and Customer Service Teams.Key Activity 3 - Inter-Departmental CommunicationEffectively communicate any changes, delays or disruptions to normal schedules and routings. Ensure all stakeholders (truck planners / tank planners / bookings team / customs teams / customer account managers) are advised of the impact of changes in-line withpre-agreed time-frames.Work alongside the regional truck and tank planning team, forging effective and efficient processes to improve planning efficiencies.Key Activity 4 - Logistics Planning AssistanceUse your knowledge and experience to identify repeat issues on specific lanes / routes, and take steps to address them with support from your peers, line-manager and director.Continually review service performance and capacity capabilities of approved carriers,highlighting under-performing carriers to relevant colleagues and departments.When appropriate and able, assist and support the regional team in other areas relating to trucking and fleet management.Selection CriteriaQualifications, Skills and Knowledge E/D*Competent in the use of I.T. systems EGood geographical knowledge EExperiencePrevious roles in transport planning or within the logistics industry ECompetenciesEffective communicator, both internally and externally EAbility to manage time and execute all tasks in prioritised structure EGrow and develop relationships with suppliers DPersonal Attributes & other requirementsAble to withstand high pressure situations EExcellent team player demonstrating loyalty and commitment to the organisation and team members E
