SummaryDevelop welding techniques to increase productivity/improve quality of production welding. Maintaining qualified welders to required standards, arranges processing of weld test samples, provides any support required in welding.Key duties and responsibilities* Conduct reviews of technical and contractual requirements* Provide welding methodology for new product Introduction* Development, implementation and review of weld procedure specifications (WPS) and procedure qualification records (PQR) to customer and Industry standards including welder qualifications and certifications* Selection, suitability and control of materials and welding consumables* Equipment, suitability, maintenance and calibration* Inspection and testing before, during and after welding, including processing of weld test samples* Review and selection of relevant sub-contract activities* Ensure the department remains compliant with all industry and customer welding standards/systems including NADCAP* Complete welding system audits (internally and externally) to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement and cost reduction* Prepare technical reports and memos as required* Provide support to shop floor for problem resolution, Improvements relating to welding process * Design and Implementation of fixtures relating to welding operations* Any other similar requirements as requested Experience* Wide knowledge and experience of welding techniques and processes is essential - including fusion, laser and resistance welding techniques* Previous experience within a similar role is essentialQualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
