Job Description

Our client, a market leading business within their sector are currently looking for an experienced Plant Mechanic to join their expanding team.Overall Purpose:

  • To use skills, knowledge & experience to provide a cost-effective Maintenance service to the business.
  • To ensure the company is meeting its legal obligations in line with equipment maintenance and compliance, while maintaining service records.
  • To liaise with the EMD supervisor and coordinate external resources ensuring suppliers provide a cost effective, high quality service to the business.
  • To develop and improve the departments maintenance service and function to the company.
Key Duties:
  • As a member of the Maintenance Department, the principal responsibility of the position is the Maintenance on all company Vehicles coordination of external resources for the site, ensuring compliance with, technical, Environmental, Health & Safety legislationto the agreed timetable and costs.
  • To communicate effectively with all levels within the company including senior management, outside bodies and other companies.
  • In conjunction with the Emd / supervisor Manager, organise maintenance programmes to optimise time-utilisation in a structured and disciplined way.
  • To prioritise and optimise the use of time.
  • To work to priorities planned and corrective maintenance routines.
  • Directly liaise with department managers re upcoming maintenance activities.
  • Monitor and report the status of maintenance works to the management team.
  • To meaningfully contribute to and support continuous improvements of EMD working methods and activities.
  • To have involvement with problem solving concerning maintenance issues and online processes.
  • To support in all mandatory requirements of Environmental, Health and Safety legislation.
  • To undertake any other tasks required by the EMD manager.
Experience Required:
  • Minimum of BTEC Certificate in Maintenance and/or relevant time serviced experience / training in a mechanical discipline.
  • Benefitical to have experience working with Cranes, SPMTs or HGVs.
  • IRTEC.
  • NVQ 2 /3 plant and construction preferred.
  • NVQ motor vehicle maintenance.
  • NVQ level 3 in auto electrics preferred.
  • Heavy plant maintenance.
  • Knowledge of Hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • At least 5 years experience within a medium to heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Good knowledge of mechanical plant machinery and systems.
  • Ability to understand and produce maintenance drawings.
  • General knowledge of health and safety standards and the ability to carry out on the job risk assessments.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to coordinate a range of duties.
  • Able to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to make quick and accurate decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and relate to people at all levels of the organization and with suppliers/contractors.
  • Able to work alone or as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Forward thinking, enthusiastic & motivated.
  • Progressive attitude towards training.
  • IT Literate (Microsoft Office, CMMS / SAP).
  • Good record keeping skills.
  • Ability to lead and co-ordinate multi-disciplined teams of contractors.
  • A "can do" attitude with a flexible approach to tasks and hours of work
  • full current driving license.
The Package:
  • £12.81 - £14.68 PH depending on experience.
  • 39 hours per week, anything over that is overtime.
  • On Call rate.
