Job Description

REED Engineering are delighted to be working closely with a well established manufacturing business with exciting expansion plans in the North-East. The client is seeking to employ an experienced Mechanical Design Engineeron a permanent basis to join the growing team based in the Stockton-on-Tees area.As Mechanical Design Engineer, some of your key duties will include:

  • Providingtechnical input for engineering purchase specifications.
  • Generatingreports, calculations and design schemes.
  • Check /approve design schemes, customer calculations, subcontract technical submissions and ensure quality and consistency of submissions in line with current working practices.
  • Maintain job records in accordance with company norms and practices.
  • Provide technical advice in resolving customer enquiries.
  • Support creation of engineering design guides, rules and tools to support business needs and continual business improvement.
  • Design overall product architecture, subassemblies and/or components to meet specification and cost targets.
  • Use IT packages effectively in the course of engineering activities (excel, word, Smaths, CAD, Comsol etc).
  • Provide checking (as a technical signatory delegate) for engineering deliverables.
  • Interpret and implement engineering specifications and standards to ensure compliance.
  • Preparation of engineering calculations over a number of disciplines in support of detail design schemes.
  • Perform concept and detail design work applying acoustic, dynamic, mechanical, and thermo-fluid principles to generate optimum customer solutions.
The ideal candidate will have/be:
  • Mechanical EngineeringDegree
  • Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control (desirable, but not essential)
  • IMechE corporate membership(desirable, but not essential)
  • IOA membership(desirable, but not essential)
