Job Description

WHAT COMPANY YOU WILL BE WORKING FORWestray Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced Fabrication Supervisor to work for our prestigious client based in the Teesside area. The business is a leading provider of integrated welding and engineering services and largely serves the Oil & Gas sector.WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING IN YOUR ROLE

  • Responsibility for co-ordinating and supporting relevant Production Team Leaders with Fabrication being the priority
  • Assist and attend daily production meeting to review schedules, capacity and delivery requirements to ensure customer delivery schedules are met
  • Maintain and improve quality standards by ensuring all standard operating procedures and quality processes are rigorously adhered to
  • Develop, understand and manufacture jigs and fixtures utilising product engineering drawings
  • Maintain and improve health and safety performance through the implementation of all health and safety policies. Adhere and improve Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance
  • Carry out team training and assist with performance assessments and implement training programmes to improve skill base to meet the ongoing needs of the business
  • Reviewing in-house capabilities and suggesting areas for investment or development
  • Be a “leader of change" and be comfortable working with all levels within the organisation. Lead by example through role modelling behaviour, whilst enforcing high company standards, policies and procedures
  • Create and manage a portfolio of lean projects directed at reducing waste and improving quality to provide greater value; implements such tools as: 5S, KPIs, VMS, and Kaizen. Responsible for leading continuous improvement projects, as well as mentoring and coaching to obtain the results required
  • Motivate personnel in the understanding and adoption of new principles and techniques
  • Drive the standardisation of processes and the implementation of metrics and best practices. Support and Assist Manufacturing Manager setting annual operational targets and help drive improvements to achieve those targets.
  • Lead Kaizen projects each year
  • Identify and embed a 5% cost reduction in 3 process areas or projects
  • Embed, improve and sustain 5S
  • Exceed customer delivery and quality requirements
  • 5Ensure production costs are in line with, or better than cost estimates
  • Along with others introduce additional capacities as appropriate through in-house investment and / or supply chain relationship development
  • Along with others, critically examine on a continuous basis, the methods and procedures being used throughout the manufacturing process to ensure that the most appropriate and effective practices are being used.
  • WHAT EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION
  • Candidates must be a Time Served Welder/Plater with two to five years’ experience working in a similar role.
  • Must have a flexible attitude is keen and enthusiastic, a team player who is an excellent communicator. Must be able to work as part of a small team to tight deadlines but equally capable to work individually.
  • Good IT skills and experience with ERP systems
  • Evidence of lean manufacturing techniques and training
  • Experience within the Oil & Gas sector
  • Knowledge of Jig manufacture
