Job Description

Job TitleControl systems engineer Employment TypeContract Estimated Duration- 12 months with opportunity to be extended This role has been deemed inside of IR35LocationStockton-on-TeesSummary:An exciting new opportunity has become available to have the chance of working alongside a major engineering industry, specialising in the development of key nuclear projects across the UK and world, boasting a talent force of thousands of nuclear experts.The need is for you as a control systems engineer to become responsible for leading the input of small projects as well as carrying out a range of engineering tasks within a large project team. The opportunity will allow you to lead a team of engineers toensure overall effective project delivery through a range of engineering tasks.

  • You will plan and prioritise your own work to ensure that functional project requirements in scope, time and cost are met.
  • Carry out engineering calculations and check the work of more junior engineers, to deliver quality functional input to projects.
  • Carry out commissioning activities at client site as required, to ensure successful engineering handover.
  • You will ensure work complies with all necessary corporate, departmental, and legislative requirements and procedures, to guarantee that the necessary consistency and quality of delivery is maintained.
  • Specify and procure equipment to meet requirements.
  • Recognise and address potential and actual cross-discipline issues and conflicts so that overall engineering input to a project is coherent.
  • Develop your own engineering experience and skills, moving towards the capability to move to a more senior role and towards professional qualification.
Skills and Attributes:
  • You will be a graduate engineer.
  • You will be knowledgeable about PLC/SCADA
  • Ideally you will have extensive experience in relevant project design work, to effectively perform the role; however, if you’re less experienced you will have the opportunity to be trained in the role with close supervision.
  • You will have the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • You will need to be fully flexible with the mobility to work anywhere in the home country.
  • You will need to communicate effectively with peers across disciplines and more senior engineers, on task and other day to day issues in verbal and written format.
  • Provides lead in functional engineering documentation, including client documentation, on projects. Prepares functional engineering documentation, including client and supplier documentation, on projects.
Range and scope of activities you’ll be undertaking:
  • Work under general management, within defined procedures; if you’re less experienced you will be supervised more closely until your capability grows fit for the role.
  • You will work with peers from other disciplines.
  • Applying your own skills and previous experience to resolve a range of common and technical problems and seek advice from more experienced or specialist resources as required.
Level of discretion:
  • You will plan and prioritise your own work once you have fulfilled the role.
  • You will refer to any potential issues that threaten project delivery to manager.
  • You will check the work of more junior engineers and designers.
  • Work within procedures always
  • Satisfactory discharging of the responsibilities in this role is essential to the successful completion of a project, errors or omissions may not become apparent for some time, threatening project delivery.
