Job Description

Our client, an electricity distribution company based in Stockton are looking to recruit an Assistant Land Officer (Wayleaves) who will be responsible for meeting landowners, attending sites, producing new legal agreements, dealing with property queries and managing existing records and consents.The position is for an initial 6 month probationary period, with an option to transfer to a full-time position with the company; if the candidate is successful in demonstrating their competence.The role serves both internal and external customers and responds to multiple enquiries each day. Enquiries relate to land and property issues arising from our 60,000+ grantors, solicitors and other external agencies.The position sits between the office-based Clerical Assistants and our field-based Wayleave Officers. The roles require someone who is happy to work out in the field approximately 3 days per week or as the role dictate.As an Assistant Land Officer (Wayleaves) you can expect to receive an hourly rate of £11.67.Roles & Responsibilities:The Assistant Wayleave Officer will complete a range of low-complexity customer-facing work such as grantor and property changes, payment re-assessments, substation access reviews, boundary and tenure enquiries, simple damage claims and arranging access for maintenance works. Much of this will require site visits.Key requirements of the role:

  • Full clean driving license with access to own vehicle (less than 5 years old);
  • Confident in face to face customer liaison;
  • Personable, presentable with a good attitude;
  • Good spoken and written communication skills;
  • Excellent organisational skills with an attention to detail;
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a wider team;
  • At least 5 GCSEs Grade A-C;
  • 2 A Levels or an NVQ Level 3 or an ONC; and
  • Excellent IT skills (competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel & Visio).
  • Desirable Requirements:
  • Previous experience of Wayleaves & Land based consents;
  • Experience of the legal system and electricity distribution network operators;
  • Previous experience of property and negotiations; and
  • Interest and/or appreciation of agriculture & environmental issues
  • The hours of work will be between 8:30am and 4.40pm (37 hours per week), Monday to Friday.The company offer free onsite parking.
