We would welcome you joiningus on our journey to building safe, happy, healthy and successful futures for our children and young people.Youth Justice is an exciting and innovative service that consists of a team of friendly dedicated, caring and hard working professionals who work closelywith courts, young people and their families. Youth Justice deliver excellent outcomes for young people who enter the Criminal Justice system to deliver effective planning for children and families to ensure positive outcomes for children in Manchester.Therole holder will need to be focused, dynamic and passionate in order to help young people. The Youth Justice Social Worker will work with key partners to safeguard the needs of young people, improve public protection and assist in the reduction of youth offendingwithin the desistance framework.You will be a self-motivated, creative thinker, flexible and pragmatic person who is able to complete timely and accurate assessments and deliver high quality face-to-face interventions with young people and their parents /carers. You will supervise cases, make appropriate referrals and manage risk in line with national standards and develop high quality supervision plans based on assessments. Youll need to be hands on and possess good communication and motivation skills tobring the best outcome for young people.Experience of social work practice is essential as is an understanding of working within the Criminal Justice system. You must be willing to work at other Manchester Youth Justice Offices when requested and work onelate night each week on a rota basis.This post requires a Social Worker Qualification and Social Work England Registration.This post is a designated Essential Car User. Therefore you must hold a full valid driving licence at all times and provide your owncar for use at work. You will receive the Essential Car User Allowance.The post is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (amended in 2013). Appointable candidates will be required to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure andBarring Service (DBS) check. Information provided by you or the DBS will be dealt with in a confidential manner and in accordance with the DBS Code of Practice which can be viewed here. We have a policy on the Employment of Ex-Offenders and it is availableupon request.This post is also subject to satisfactory references and other pre-employment checks where applicable.As a fixed base worker, you would work from specific locations. This could be because you use specialist equipment or because you work with thepublic from a fixed location. You may work from more than one fixed location and you would usually have a dedicated workspace or team area. Your hours and times of work may be more flexible depending on the type of role you have.
