Job Description

Meridian is looking for permanent full time night care assistants to join one of our clients dementia-friendly care homes located across Stockport, Greater ManchesterSalary: £25,509.12Hours: 8pm -8am on a rolling rota of 3 shift on 3 shifts offBenefits: An hourly rate of pay that is significantly higher than the industry average for care workers, plus a bonus paid for any overtime shifts worked28 days holiday, with an additional day holiday for your birthday (after 1 years’ service)+ Much more including training and career developmentJob PurposeTo professionally lead the care team during any span of duty, ensuring that a safe, effective, andefficient care service is maintained which meets the needs of residents and purchasers.Key Responsibilities

  • To ensure the administration and recording of medication is in line with prescriptions, company
care standards and legislative requirements.
  • To liaise with the Deputy Manager to ensure that person centered support plans are created
and maintained.
  • Review care and support plans ensuring accurate records are kept and that support plans are
implemented.
  • To set and maintain a high standard of care and support to residents in the home.
  • To liaise with General Practitioners and other professionals
  • To participate in any audits both internal and external, of the service and ensure that action
plans are implemented.
  • To work collaboratively with team members to achieve person centered support plans and best
practice.
  • Must have good understanding of the CQC standards and the KLOE’s.
  • To assist residents in all aspects of their care needs, physical, emotional, and spiritual, ensuring
residents retain their comfort and dignity.
  • To participate in any Audit/Quality assurance programmes within the home and assist with the
evaluation of own practice.Main Duties
  • To take the lead in a key area within the home, as identified with your Manager.
  • To ensure preparation, implementation, review, and update of all resident’s person-centered
support plans in line with their personal wishes, preferences, dignity, and privacy.
  • Encourage all residents to be involved in activities within/outside the home by welcoming and
encouraging their participation so that they remain emotionally and intellectually stimulated.
  • Delivering ‘on the job’ training to all staff.
  • Ensure a safe environment is always maintained.
  • To develop and promote good communication with resident, relatives, and staff.
  • Support and work closely with families and friends ensuring that professional and emotion
support is given.
  • Ensure that holistic assessments are carried out when residents are admitted to the home e.g.,
nutritional, continence, risks etc.
  • To ensure that the home environment and its equipment is maintained to a high standard.
  • Facilitate regular one to ones and team meetings for staff.
  • Ensure staff have an annual appraisal.
  • Encourage an open and honest culture, and provide support, encouragement and mentoring to
all staff.
  • Undertake on call duties as required by the Company.
  • Ensure correct and diligent use of PPE and infection control procedures.
  • Work collectively as a team and continuously promote and aim to improve care standards in
accordance with the companies 10 key behaviours and legislation.
  • Any other duties required in accordance with the role, home requirements and service delivery.
PERSON SPECIFICATIONQualificationsLevel 2 in Health & Social Care and at least 2 years’ experience working in a paid care role.Medication trainedKnowledgeNeeds of older people Social/Emotional/PersonalKnowledge of CQC standards and KLOESMust be prepared to attend such training sessions as are deemed necessary by management.Experience / SkillsPrevious experience in a care related role.Must have demonstrated the ability to work both as a team member and on own initiative.Must be able to demonstrate literacy and numeracy skills.Good level of IT skillsAble to organize and complete routine tasks to set standards.Awareness of the need to respect resident’s privacy and individuality.PersonalGood verbal and written communication skillsTo be friendly, helpful, and courteous.To have a liking for older people and the ability to relate to them in a sensitive manner.To have a positive attitude and commitment to high standards of care.Ability to work shifts, (including evenings, weekends, and public holidays).If you are a care assistant and looking for a new and rewarding career move please apply within this job advert to be contacted by one of our specialist team.
