Job Description

THE COMPANYA retailer has partnered exclusively with Stephen at Rise to hire a Buyer who has experience buying drinks or snacks. This is an opportunity to join a smaller, non-corporate team where you can make a real difference and work on a wide range of categorieswith a diverse portfolio of suppliers - sourcing well-known drinks and snacks brands while curating a range of lesser-known gourmet products, helping smaller brands reach a wider audience while at the same time delighting customers with something tasty andnew.THE ROLE

  • Buying branded fmcg food and drink, to create a condensed but carefully curated mix of well-known and lesser-known brands across a broad range of drinks (soft-drinks, alcoholic beers, wines, and spirits (BWS) and non-alcoholic options), crisps, snacks,confectionery, and convenience foods
  • Taking the overall buying strategy and interpreting this to define the buying and range strategy across your categories
  • Completing sales analysis using market and customer insight data to inform buying decisions
  • Presenting product range proposals to Senior Management team
  • Working with merchandising, marketing, and sales teams to define and deliver promotion strategy
  • Completing UK and EU travel throughout the year for trade shows and supplier visits
  • Mentoring and coaching an Assistant Buyer
ABOUT YOUYou will need demonstrable experience in a buying role, with experience negotiating with global brands in drinks OR snacks and a keen eye for new and exciting things. There will be a junior/assistant buyer supporting you in this role so any people managementexperience is desirable, but not required, because the Head of Buying can help you develop these skills with support and mentoring if you havent done this before. You will need a driving licence to visit UK suppliers.THE REWARDYou will receive a salary of between £40,000 - £45,000 (depending on experience) plus hybrid working, progression opportunities, and other benefits.
