Job Description

Position: Male Support Worker/DriverLocation: Stanmore, LondonContract: Permanent and full time **Hourly Rate: £9.00phHours:37.5 hours per week (To work every other weekend)Shifts: Early - 7am - 2.30pm, Late- 2pm - 9.30pm** Adults with moderate to severe learning difficulties, Autism and Epilepsy **BS Social Care are currently recruiting for a Support Worker for an adult`s residential home within Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire looking for candidates that have the values and passion for helping others.About the company; they are charity that support people with learning disabilities, autism, brain injuries and complex needs. They are passionate about ensuring they give the best possible care to their residents and provide a happy environment for both the service users and staff.About the role; this role will require a large amount of manual handling, working with wheelchairs and hoisting, meaning that you will not be afraid to deliver physical care and get stuck in. You will be working with adults of mixed sex who have moderate to severe Learning Difficulties, Autism and Epilepsy however, no challenging behaviour. Your typical day would include; hand over, supporting the service users get up washed, dressed and get ready for day centre, shopping or activities. You will complete paper work and keep care plans up to date. You will be a Key Worker, or a Link Worker so expect to be responsible for a particular service user including arranging their activities/medication and have everything then need to receive the best possible care. You will assist in picking them up from the day centre and providing personal and helping with dinner, then get ready for the evening. This role is very hands on due to the service users needing physical support with personal care and meals to ensure they have the best quality of life possible.About the ideal candidate; it is essential that you have experience at least 1 years care (ideally within learning disabilities and residential but we are able to take care experience in other areas of health and social care), that you are a driver with a manual licence of at least 2 years and that you are empathetic and compassionate towards the residents of the home and interested in the role for the right reasons. We need candidates that have the right values and understanding of the needs of the service users you`re working with by building a professional relationship and being a friend as well as their carer. If you do not hold any relevant qualifications, you will have to complete the care certificate and be willing to work towards gaining extra qualifications. The home is a friendly home, either fast paced or relaxed but always nice to be within. It will be ideal to be a driver with transportation. This organisation looks to upskill and progress their team and offer the opportunity to become Shift Leaders after probation if that is of interest.In return; this role can either offer a full time and permanent role working on average 37.5 hours per week over 4 weeks including every other weekend. You will work a mix of earlys; 7am - 2.30pm, lates; 2.00pm - 9.30pm. You will also be offered a whole host of benefits which will be discussed on interview.
