Job Description

The Community Events Coordinator is a newly formed role and will evolve as the new strategy is developed and implemented. The senior Community Centre team consists of four Community Hub Managers and an overarching Senior Programme Design Manager and centralservices leads of Digital Skills, Befriending and Meals on Wheels. Each Community Events Coordinator is responsible for creating and implementing a programme of events as appropriate for the local community they serve, in collaboration with the Senior ProgrammeDesign Manager, Community Hub Manager and Programming Coordinator.Working to the Community Hub Manager, the Community Events Coordinator is responsible for front line delivery of events based in the community to Jewish Care members.You will be responsible for:

  • Day-to-day operational delivery of events, concerts, and leisure activities to Jewish active elderly and older people and volunteers
  • Research, plan, develop and implement a schedule of events, concerts and leisure activities that meet the need of an increasingly diverse, mobile, and active older Jewish community.
  • Identify and develop partnership opportunities with community organisations to broaden the community events offer across audience and activities.
  • Work with Marketing Department colleagues to promote and brand events to engage effectively with target audience.
  • In collaboration with Community Hub Manager responsibly utilise and monitor the events budget to maximise value for money, operating events efficiently.
  • In collaboration with the Community Hub Manager and the Administration and Operations Lead, working with Health and Safety and catering colleagues to ensure that the physical environment, environmental management, and catering services are safe and wellrun.
  • Working with the Community Hub Manager, to ensure that new services and programming are implemented, managed, and monitored in line with agreed standards and KPIs.
  • Where required, to facilitate and participate in activities and programming across service responsibility in line with agreed standards.
  • Working collaboratively with internal and external colleagues to take part in safeguarding concern enquiries, follow up appropriately and to enhance the quality of life of older people.
  • Working collaboratively to support the Hub Manager specialisms of Community, Digital, Dementia and Programming to ensure that the Community Services team can effectively share best practice and work in partnership to deliver outstanding services that areconsistently meeting the needs of our current and future client group.
What you will need:
  • Knowledge of the Jewish community, across all levels of observance, local parlance, and festivities
  • Knowledge of The Care Act, The Mental Capacity Act, DOLS and general adult safeguarding best practice
  • Knowledge of General Data Protection Regulations and their practical application in day-to-day operational work
  • Ability to ensure that Jewish Care can continuously improve its services through rigorous management, monitoring and measurement against business plans, budgets, targets and KPIs
  • Exceptional customer service skills, with the ability to deliver a consistently high-quality customer experience
  • Ability to work empathetically and respectfully with people of all ages and abilities
  • Outstanding administrative, management and organisational skills, with the ability to work within tight deadlines and budgets
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and the ability to influence people at all levels, both within and outside Jewish Care
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, and able to think clearly under pressure
  • High levels of IT literacy in the use of modern business systems e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Internet and cloud-based services and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems
