Job Description

Project EstimatorAn outstanding opportunity for an Estimator to join one of the UKs fastest growing consultants in Stamford, Lincolnshire. Over the past few years, they have built a reputation for excellent service, innovation and an alternative way of working within theindustry, making a genuine difference to their clients.Applicants must be self-motivated and able to communicate in a confident, professional manner with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously at different stages of value from engineering, cost control to budgeting.We are eager to speak with Estimators that have a desire to progress and become a project manager when the time comes!Main Responsibilities for the successful Project Estimator:

  • Ensure projects are delivered to the correct price and specification, on or ahead of programme and on or under budget.
  • Maintain contact with the customer and supply chain throughout the project lifespan, and act as a key contact.
  • Provide pre-contract support on terms and conditions at the sales phase where required, negotiating, agreeing and recording formal contracts and warranties with our customers.
  • Researching prices and collecting quotes from suppliers and subcontractors
  • Manage the contract in every respect: build methodology, scope of works, programme, process, costs, progress, safe working systems, building performance, employers requirements, technical and contractual matters.
  • Identify project risk by monitoring inflation and exchange rates
  • Identify price and submit detailed variation quotations, take off drawings, produce and propose value engineering options, generate and monitor project cash flows, calculate labour requirements and histogram reports.
  • Track the progress of the customers input to the project so that their needs are anticipated and planned to the businesss forecasting and planning systems.
  • Provide direct intervention to manage contractual customer engagement issues such as variations, notices, relevant events, overdue debt, retentions and claims.
  • Prepare and issue accurate and detailed applications for payment, ensuring these are submitted on the correct dates,
  • Regularly review project financial performance to identify best practice and cost performance and propose actions to improve performance where possible across the wider business.
  • Monitor and report progress on all project matters, including site visits and surveys.
  • Undertake the preparation of Final Accounts, with reference to the project history and costs, and the negotiation and agreement process.
  • Training will be provided.
About the successful Project Estimator:
  • Ideally an estimator with a minimum of 3 years experience working for a main contractor or builder.
  • Commercial and contractual awareness (JCT/NEC) with a proven track record of success
  • Highly IT literate and proficient with excel
  • Highly organised and self-motivated individual
  • Excellent communication skills with internal stakeholders and external clients
  • Ability to organise yourself and others workload
  • The ability to work in a team
  • The ability to negotiate
  • Attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
  • Demonstrate excellent drive, determination, and ambition to succeed
  • Clean UK License
