Job Description

Development EngineerJob RoleDue to current demand and continued growth our client in Stamford are looking foran experienced Development Engineer to join their team in a friendly working atmosphere. This is a permanent position that offers a great opportunity for the successful candidateto become an integral member of a thriving ambitious Composite Engineering Team sharing the same drive and enthusiasm as their colleagues. You will participate in creating and producing products made with leading edge composites measured by weight, stiffness,size, complexity, BOM and costing. These products are very attractive compared with some aluminium applications. You will help design, develop, test and interrogate parts to mitigate technical risk, address DFM and deliver into commercial production.Job Responsibilities

  • Liaise with the Business Development team and customers to determine technical and quality requirements
  • Carry out Technical market research to develop strategies and road maps for market entry opportunities with the implementation of composite products in areas where traditional solutions maybe the norm.
  • Assist/present in design reviews and work with the design engineers to define component and critical features
  • Help design validation, reliability testing and collect data
  • Work with manufacturing & quality engineers to optimise for productibility and identification of key/critical process and product features
  • Capture lesson learnt and implemented in engineering procedure updates
  • Ensure compliance with engineering and NPI procedural requirements
  • Support continuous improvement and proactively seek to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Maintain inventory of test equipment including calibration, maintenance plans, equipment risk assessments and training support
  • Assist other business functions such as quality, manufacturing and supply chain from an engineering function to ensure customer deliverables are achieved
Person Specification
  • Relevant experience in mechanical engineering or in similar areas such as aerospace or the automotive industry (Engineering related degree preferable)
  • Technical Knowledge of composite structures, materials and composite manufacturing techniques
  • Strong organisation, planning, and delivery skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication ability
  • Be highly motivated, with a strong ability to use own initiative
  • A team player able to work within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Hands on industry experience in a design and development environment
  • Experience of engineering project management
  • Hands on experience in design and development
  • Physical dexterity for working with composites
Remuneration
  • 40k to 50k DOE
