Construction Estimator/Quantity Surveyor

Job Description

My Stamford based client is looking for an Estimator to join their fast growing, forward thinking construction company. You will be involved in the pricing and estimating of tenders and projects, from initial inception right through to completion. Ideally you will have experience in a similar role and have good knowledge of the construction industry and site management. This is a permanent role, offering a competitive salary and company vehicle.Key Responsibilities:

  • Arranging site inspections and make all necessary record of notes
  • Measuring and providing accurate budgets for projects ranging in value from £10k - £3m
  • Source and order materials taking into consideration costs
  • Liaising with all teams, clients, suppliers and main contractors to ensure the efficient running of projects
  • Recommend cost reduction solutions
  • Always operate within the company Health and safety legislation
  • Help develop programme of works at win stage
  • Preparing & submitting quotations for work
  • Provide a detailed take off & Bill of Quantities
  • Produce monthly valuations and applications
  • Place and maintain sub-contract orders
  • Prepare monthly sub-contractor payment certificates and notices
    • Skills Required:
  • Management skills - basic programming, planning
  • Knowledge of contractual procedures and responsibilities
  • Good negotiation, influencing and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and reasoning abilities
  • Good organisation skills and attention to detail
  • Confident and resourceful
  • Evidence of maintaining a professional, consistent and fair approach
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work alone or within a team
  • Driving licence holder
