Job Description

Repair Technician The Recruitment Crowd are hiring for a number of Repair Technicians on behalf of one of our clients, a global distributor and repair specialist who support the manufacturing, automotive, food processing and energy sectors.Salary: £27,000 p/a + bonus/commission plan + pension + 25 days annual leaveJob Type: PermLocation: Stoke-on-Trent (ST5)Hours: Monday to Friday / 8am-5pmThis is a position for experienced electronics technicians. Customers will send in items that are in need of repair, and often without drawings/schematics. The technician would research online where possible, or use their own experience to troubleshoot theissues, identify any faults and complete repairs as required on a range of equipment.The RoleRepair Technicians are required with an industrial automation background to join an expanding team within our clients production and engineering department. Following extraordinary growth, they are increasing capacity to support a growing customer basewithin Europe. They are an award winning, ISO 9001:2015 accredited business with locations in the UK, US, Canada and Germany.The Repair Technician role involves, but is not limited to, the repair and/or calibration of industrial controls including printed circuit boards (PCBs), timers, counters, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), drives, human machine interfaces (HMIs)and temperature & process controls.Responsibilities include test functionality of each unit repaired, ordering parts for each unit processed and updating tracking notes in a CRM system reflecting the steps take to repair each unit. Technicians are required to perform repairs of units downto component level, using good soldering and troubleshooting skills. Use of test equipment (oscilloscope, multi-meter, function generator) and test fixtures is necessary to ensure the complete and proper repair of each unit.Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Soldering to a high level
  • Troubleshooting down to component level
  • Using a range of test equipment
  • 90% bench level electronic and electro-mechanical / 10% documentation of actions taken on each item and team communication
  • Ordering parts to assist with repairs
  • Clean, check, service and test repaired items to ensure it is fit for purpose.
  • Communicating with and reporting to a Repair Supervisor
Qualifications
  • Must understand the repair of Industrial Controls cycle;
  • Strong technical skills; ability to learn and understand repair of Industrial Controls processes and procedures
  • Required to bring your own tools as specified by the hiring manager
Knowledge & Skills Required
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solder components is required
  • Have a logical approach to fault finding
  • The ability to understand wiring schematics and fault find electrical circuits
  • Use of a CRM system in past roles
  • Ability to work at fast pace
  • Attention to detail
  • Use of hand and power tools.
  • Must be incentive driven.
Education & Experience
  • GCSE minimum grade Cs in a science subject, Mathematics and English
  • A recognised Electrical / Electronic Engineering Qualification is required
  • Experience in the Industry or a similar repair environment a distinct advantage
  • Experience in the servo and/or robotics industry would be a plus.
