Job Description

Technical Services Support Engineer - (No Agencies)Salary: £25,000 - £27,000 Per AnnumReporting to the Technical Services Manager, the Technical Services Support Engineer will take part in the day-to-day support of the TurfTrax GoingStick and Mapping system and the servicing and support of the WeatherTrax Systems. The successful candidatewill also be given the opportunity to assist withdevelopment of new products.The role would ideally suit someone educated to at least HND standard or equivalent with relevant work experience in an IT environment, a field-based operation, service or support role. Full training on all aspects of the role will be provided.The contract will be for a permanent position incorporating a 6-month probationary period.Job Specification

  • Servicing and support for the TurfTrax GoingStick
  • Installation, servicing, and support for the WeatherTrax system
  • Support for the hub database and mapping system
  • Fault finding and first line customer support for all hardware and software
  • Inventory control and procurement of system spares
  • Liaison with all other members of staff to ensure efficient and timely operations
  • Other duties as required
Essential skillsDue to the varied nature of the work the TechnicalServices Support Engineer should be able to demonstrate proficiency in following skills:
  • Basic IT knowledge (hardware, software configuration)
  • Basic knowledge of LINUX based systems (knowledge of Debian based OSs)
  • Electronics experience (trouble shooting electrical circuits, soldering etc.)
  • Basic networking knowledge (WAN,WLAN and LAN)
  • The ability to work unsupervised after instruction in an outdoor environment
  • Good command of written and spoken English
Key SkillsThe following skills would be beneficial:
  • A working knowledge of electronic communications
  • Basic knowledge of any programming language
  • Experience of field-based operation, service or support
  • A sound awareness of health and safety policy
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
Previous experience in electronic/communication engineering or in a system administration role would be advantageous. An interest, knowledge or previous work experience in the sports or horse racing industry would be useful but is not essential.As part of the day-to-day duties the TechnicalServices Support Engineer will be asked to carry out tasks away from the office and therefore a full UK driving licence is also required.Hours of work and on site working
  • Normal hours of work will be 8 hours per day (exclusive of lunch break) 5 days per week. The company provides support up to 365 days/year so you will be required to undertake work at weekends and on public holidays for which Time off in Lieu is provided.
  • Many of the tasks take place at customer locations that will require significant traveling and overnight stays within the UK, and there may be a requirement to travel overseas.
  • A laptop, mobile phone and use of a company van will be provided.
  • The company Safe Contractor accredited.
Remuneration
  • The starting salary for the Technical Services Support Engineer is negotiable depending on experience. A company pension scheme is provided.
Holiday
  • Annual holiday entitlement is twenty days plus all public holidays.
