Job Description

Technical Manager St NeotsSalary up to £55kAre you a passionate Technical Manager, looking for an exciting new roleCoulter Elite Resourcing are currently looking for a Technical Manager to work with one of their well-established and very successful clients based near St Neots working as part of their technical team.Principle Responsibilities for the Technical Manager:-

  • Management of all relevant records, codes and procedures relating to the companies compliance and conformity to ASME, PD5500, Machinery Directive, Puwer, CE/CA
  • Maintain company manufacturing standards including ASME manual.
  • Issue and manage pressure vessel quality plans.
  • Perform physical inspections and control the record for Incoming pressure vessel materials and certification.
  • Perform physical inspections on all pressure vessel components in line with quality plan inspection hold points.
  • Liaison with and selection of 3rd party witness/Inspection, identify all testing requirements.
  • Preparation of quality plans for welding procedure qualification activities.
  • Identify the need for and instigation of welder qualification activities including monitoring, testing and creation of records, WPQR’s, WPS, PWP’s etc.
  • Liaise with suppliers, customers and inspection authorities on all aspects of welding.
  • To assume the day to day control of the business Quality systems in place and consider new systems/policies as appropriate.
  • Perform necessary calculations, control and advise on technical legislation that DCN equipment should conform to such as PD5500, ASME, Puwer, Machinery Directive, CE/CA marking etc.
  • Specify and source technical bought out items where technical oversight is required to ensure they conform to DCN and customer requirements.
  • Provide technical and service requirements for Sales drawings and marketing/commercial documents.
  • Control of formulation and updating of Bills of Materials where appropriate.
  • Administer technical library (online and hard copy).
  • Checking customer URS/Specifications for technical requirements/specifications prior to quotation or contract signature.
  • Administer DCN parts database (Operations).
Person specification:-
  • An engineering HNC or Degree qualification.
  • Be experienced in the documentation and inspection of pressure vessels and machinery.
  • Experienced or qualified with NDT visual welding inspection.
  • Experienced in quality systems - ASME would be advantageous.
  • Minimum of 5years experience in an engineering manufacturing environment.
  • An understanding of process equipment calculation for items such as pumps, heat exchangers and flow control.
  • Experience of pneumatics, hydraulics and process applications using steam as an energy source.
This is a full time permanent Technical Manager position, offering an annual salary of up to £55,000 annual plus 22 Days Holiday + Bank Holiday, increases to 25 with service years.
