Job Description

Stores Assistant / Engineering Stores PersonSalary to £26,364 pa (Equiv. £13.00 p/hr) plus time and a half Overtime ratePermanent position with an Immediate start availableOwn transport required due to locationA Stores Person / Stores Assistant is required by long established and respected engineering manufacturing company. You will be responsible for assisting with organising the arrival, storage, issue and reporting of material movements into the factory andin and out of stores.The ideal candidate will come from an engineering / manufacturing background with experience.The Stores Person / Stores Assistant will:

  • Assist as necessary with the maintenance of stock and traceability records held in the stores.
  • Help maintain the required stock levels.
  • Perform other duties associated with the stores function and material movements as directed by the Store Supervisor.
  • Provide cover the Stores Supervisor during short-term and long term holidays or illness absence.
The main duties of the Stores Person / Stores Assistant are:
  • Issue requested consumable materials from the stores, recording transactions on the stock recording system.
  • Issue loaned tools from stores, recording such transactions on the stock recording system.
  • Assist with the reception of material deliveries ensure quantities of the correct delivered items match with the purchase order. Reporting any discrepancies or quality concerns to the Stores Supervisor or Material purchase buyer.
  • Assist with the matching of advice notes and purchase orders delivering the same to the purchase department on a daily basis.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with the factory Supervisors. Stocking the job baskets with the correct goods from a pick list issued from the MRP Administrator.
  • Prepare, protect and pack consignments for deliveries to customers and / or suppliers, ensuring that the items dispatched will be protected during transit.
  • Provide assistance in completing the Stores Supervisory duties i.e. cleaning staff as the stores work load permits.
  • Assist with maintaining all material handling equipment to be kept clean and tidy.
  • Deliver and collect materials as required.
  • Apply experience & share ideas on improving procedures both in material control and across the factory.
Skills Required:
  • Previous experience of the stores and material handling is desired.
  • Forklift operator certificate is an advantage, but training can be arranged.
  • Competency in Maths and English is essential and you must be computer literate - with good working knowledge of Microsoft software.
  • The ideal candidate will be a team player who is flexible with their approach and able to demonstrate effective time management.
