Job Description

PRODUCTION & QUALITY CONTROL TECHNICIAN – MEDTECH COMPANY – CAMBRIDGESHIRE – FULL TIME - £25,000 BASIC SALARYOur client is seeking for an experienced Production and Quality Control Technician join their team on a permanent, full time basis at their new premises in Cambridgeshire.Our leading client focuses in developing and manufacturing medical devices. This is a great opportunity to join an early-stage but rapidly growing MedTech company and to share in their success as they grow.THE ROLEWhat will you do:

  • As a Production and Quality Control Technician you will produce lateral flow test strips using production machinery
  • Perform machine maintenance
  • Perform incoming QC on incoming goods, in process QC and final product QC
  • Arrange packaging and shipping of final product
  • Maintain Stock control on the stock control database
  • KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist in tech transfer from R&D to manufacturing
  • Create and document manufacturing procedures and working instructions
  • Following standard operating procedures/working instructions in order to
  • prepare buffers and other reagents for the production and quality control (QC assessments) of products
  • To produce nitrocellulose membranes and conjugate pad material for the production of lateral flow devices
  • Laminate nitrocellulose and conjugate pad material
  • To operate, maintain and troubleshoot production machinery
  • To develop protocols and to perform routine maintenance of production machinery
  • To accurately and legibly complete batch records and working instructions
  • To maintain accurate records of stock control on the company software (DEAR) including goods in and stock transfer
  • To maintain a clean and tidy manufacturing environment
  • To adhere to all aspects of the company quality policy
  • To perform goods- in inspections, including the planning and execution of critical component assessments following standard procedures.
  • To perform in-process quality control checks following SOPs
  • To perform pre and post assembly QC following SOPs
  • To package final product and arrange delivery to customers through liaision with freight forwarders/ logistics firms, analysing the most cost-effective option
  • THE PERSON
  • The Successful Production and Quality Technician MUST have experience of working in a manufacturing facility using production machinery
  • Educated to GCSE or equivalent, desirably Degree in a scientific or engineering-based discipline
  • Ideally Qualifications in machine maintenance but not essential
  • Experience of working in a medical devices or pharmaceuticals manufacturing facility is also desired
  • Working under a quality system accredited to ISO13485 or ISO9001
  • Completing documentation such as batch records
  • Machine maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Laboratory skills e.g. pipetting
  • Literate and numerate
  • Able to accurately and legibly complete documentation
  • Good communication skills
  • Can work under own initiative
  • Committed team player
  • DESIRABLE skills, experience and characteristics:
  • Experience of working in a medical devices or pharmaceuticals manufacturing facility
  • Experience of running plotting/spraying equipment
  • Experience of writing documentation including standard operating procedures and batch records
  • Experience of conducting product failure investigations
  • Understanding of how bio-assays, and more specifically lateral flow assays function

  • £25,000 Basic Salary
