Job Description

Mechanical FitterJob RoleAn excellent opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Fitter to join our team based in St Neots on a permanent basis. You will provide maintenance support to the plant including lines, machines and building infrastructure and ensure that the equipment isreliable and working optimally to improve plant and building performance. This role will also involve preventative maintenance and assistance with breakdowns to prevent lines shutting down.Job Responsibilities

  • To ensure a high standard of maintenance to attain factory performance goals
  • Mechanical setup and production support
  • Fault finding and repair of breakdowns
  • To be fully aware of factory safety issues and work in a safe manner at all times
  • Fabrication and installation of Plant and Machinery under supervision
  • Performance of Preventive Maintenance
Person specification
  • Recognised mechanical apprenticeship (City and Guilds, NVQ or equivalent)
  • Experience of Production equipment, maintenance in a diverse factory environment
  • Machining and/or welding skills
  • Good diagnostic skills
  • Experience of first line response for boilers, chillers, air compressors and other utility systems
  • Extrusion experience
  • Higher qualification (e.g. ONC/HNC) or equivalent experience
  • Computer literate (stores systems and Maintenance Management Systems)
  • Flexible approach to work
  • Teamworker
  • Good interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Reliable and conscientious
  • Water treatment/Boiler system testing
Hours and pay
  • Salary up to £35,223.38
  • Rising up to £36,223.38
  • Overtime is paid at £19.16 per hour
  • Day shifts Mon-Fri (either 0700-1530 or 0800-1630 with 2 x 30 minute breaks) - Through March-October you will get one Friday off per month
