Title: Applications Software & Support EngineerLocation: St Neots Competitive Salary and Company Benefits Overview:We are currently recruiting for an experienced Applications Software and Support Engineer to work for our client, this is an exciting role working out of their site at St Neots and will be taking accountability and responsibility for creating applicationsoftware for our mobile hydraulic products and providing technical support.The role will also be supporting our clients sales and profit targets and the provision of superior service, in a high quality, timely, cost-effective and resource-efficient way.Main Objectives and TasksTo keep up to date with new product developments in defined industry sector(s) in order to enhance business decision making by:

• Developing and maintaining a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of trends in mobile hydraulics.
• Developing and maintaining a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of trends in software development.
• Developing an understanding of the company products and services, customers, competitors, and the business environment.
• Sharing information and ideas to enable others to build their understanding of mobile electronics, new product developments and the departments objectives.
• Analysing what is required within the team to develop and deliver technical projects, support and meet department targets.
• Seeking and analysing market intelligence and information about potential and existing competitors to develop and deliver sales and profit targets and objectives.

To contribute to the overall department plan by:

• Identifying and utilising opportunities and suggestions for improvements and growth.
• Proactively supporting the external sales force in technical projects and customer sales enquiries.
• Provide technical and project support for any mobile application where the use of mobile software technology is required.

To contribute to the delivery of technical projects, product support and sales through undertaking the following:

• Agreeing relevant individual/personal objectives, targets and success criteria for assigned activities and own area of work such as:
• Agreeing job requirements and competencies,
• Monitoring and sharing own progress and addressing any changes, taking corrective action as required.
• Communicating regularly with other members of the team, department and business to ensure rapid two-way flow of information and contribution to effective team working

To take joint responsibility for technical projects, product support and cost control by:

• Contributing to the development of department objectives.
• Delivering projects and/or activities to meet these objectives.
• Monitoring progress and addressing any changes.
• Ensuring quality standards and customer requirements are met.

To ensure the efficient and effective utilisation of financial and physical resources by:

• Maximising the use of resources and identifying and eliminating waste.
• Contributing to the setting of systems, policies, procedures and work standards ensuring that they fit and/or enhance with others used in the business.
• Balancing cost and risk vs. benefit when specifying or recommending any changes.

Qualifications Essential criteria:

• Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronic/Mechatronic Engineering
• Strong technical knowledge of our mobile electronic products and solutions is preferable but not essential as training will be provided.
• Relevant professional experience in the field of software engineering using appropriate methods and tools for embedded software (C, Matlab/Simulink, CanAlyzer, Inca) in projects
• Experience in the development of control devices and in the implementation of safety functions according to relevant standards in the field of mobile work machines
• Basic knowledge of technical functions and enthusiasm for work machines
• Distinctive ability to work in a team and strong contacts, also in an international environment
• Good interpersonal skills
• Good standard of written and spoken English
• MS Office skills.
• Must be able to travel in UK to visit customers
• Must be prepared to travel and stay overnight on a regular basis, including internationally.
• Valid UK driving licence Additional Information
