Job Description

My client based in St Ives, Cambridgeshire is currently recruiting for a Business Development Manager to join their team on a full-time permanent basis offering a salary of £35-40,000 + Bonus. What we are looking for:We are looking for a passionate, positive and enthusiastic Business Development Manager to help grow our business by actively seeking out and outreaching prospects and pursuing sales opportunities throughout continental Europe.The Business Development Managers responsibilities include:

  • Conducting market research and generating their own sales leads
  • Reaching out to prospects via cold/warm calling (5 to 8 phone calls a day) and digital media, and negotiating and closing sales opportunities.
  • The Business Development Executive will appoint, support and develop regional distribution partners, identify, and acquire new OEM accounts, and End Users in countries with no distribution partner.
We believe that the most effective way of acquiring and developing business relationships in this sector in the region is by phone use. So, great telephone manners and corresponding follow-up communication are expected. Travel to the territory is expected.The Business Development Manager will also be responsible for ‘bedding in’ new accounts and ensuring that a secure and mutually beneficial business relationship can develop.To succeed as Business Development Manager, you should be a new business hunter, motivated, self-starter, able to drive sales growth, build rapport with customers and fellow work colleagues, and have a keen technical interest in industrial processes.RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Actively seek out new sales opportunities through prospecting, launching marketing and/or sales campaigns in collaboration with marketing, and pursuing sales leads.
  • Be proactive in making outbound phone calls at the level the sales plan requires for new sales development.
  • Handle requests for quotation proactively with a great deal of communication and quality
  • Acquire, manage, develop and support distribution partners and OEMs
  • Prepare and deliver presentations on products, applications and services
  • Create and present monthly sales reviews with sales and financial data
  • Report own sales funnel with a certain degree of accuracy via CRM
  • Participate in exhibitions and/or conferences on behalf of the company
  • Build active two-way relationships with prospects and new customers
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • A minimum of 10 years of customer-facing sales experience
  • Self-motivated with a results-driven approach to selling
  • Excellent outbound telephone manners
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Great team player
  • Appreciative of international cultures
  • Proven experience and success as Business Development Executive or relevant role
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office and hands-on experience with CRM
  • Languages: Proficient in English
  • Excellent verbal and written communications
  • A-levels (or equivalent) in Chemistry, Physics, Technology, Business or Engineering
IDEAL REQUIREMENTS (in addition to the above):
  • Languages: Intermediate/Advanced/Proficiency in either German, Italian, Spanish, Polish or French
  • Aptitude in delivering attractive presentations
  • University degree
