Job Description

A great opportunity has arisen at our South Herts office for a Senior IT Support person to oversee our bespoke cloud platform and support our managed services.The companyWe are a well-established managed services provider and networking specialist, based in St Albans, Hertfordshire who have grown our business over 15 years by supplying our clients with consistently-clear tailored advice together with the very latest IT equipment and cost-effective solutions.Job specification

  • Maintaining and growing our bespoke cloud platform and infrastructure
  • Planning and migration of on-premise customers to fully-hosted services, in conjunction with the helpdesk staff
  • Consultation, specification and execution of on-premise infrastructure for customers
  • Dealing with third-line technical queries, when escalated from the support team
  • Emergency planning for critical issues
  • Optimise and enhance our current systems
  • Provision of new services to meet both present and future needs
    • Required skills and qualifications
  • High level of familiarity with Microsoft Hyper-V hosting and clustering (Cluster Storage Manager), virtual machine and DFS replication, and the underlying connectivity and storage infrastructure (e.g. iSCSI SAN technology)
  • Significant experience with Cisco IOS-based networking hardware (routers, networks, access points) as well as ASA firewalls
  • Significant experience with on-premise Microsoft Exchange (multiple servers with replication)
  • Good familiarity with Microsoft Windows Server, all versions
  • Strong networking knowledge (TCP/IP, routing, subnets, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi etc.)
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory
  • Working knowledge of broadband services (DSL, EFM, fibre etc.)
    • Desirable
  • Experience with DataCore storage infrastructure
  • Experience with backup systems (e.g. Veeam)
  • Good understanding of VoIP/SIP
  • Familiarity with Asterisk
  • Familiarity of Microsoft SPLA
  • Working knowledge of WSUS
    • Beneficial
  • Knowledge of PowerShell
  • Experience with managed anti-virus
  • Essential Linux skills for server maintenance
  • Experience with Nagios/Icinga
