Job Description

What ASEND Tuition IsWe are looking for inspirational tutors to support children and young people with SEND. Many children with SEND have been disengaged with their learning. We support pupils that have struggled to stay in the classroom, who feel too anxious to go to schoolor whose needs arent sufficiently supported at school. We tutor children face to face in a range of settings including homes, schools, and community centres. You may be an experienced tutor or teacher or have experience of working with children in a therapeutic way. One of your aims will be to support a child at home and re-engage them in their learning, continue their educational development and return to school.ASEND tuition is replacing school for these young people and is normally part-time, taking place during school hours, five days a week. Our pupils have a range of individual interests, needs and abilities, and we work very hard to match the tutor with the child who can most benefit from their skills and expertise.About Our Young PersonASEND are looking for a tutor to support a 12 year old autistic boy with OCD living in Hertfordshire. Our pupil loves kickboxing, football, playing Roblox and animals. He is, impressively, a Grade 8 at the drums. He even has a pet dog called Oreo! The candidate will have a friendly approach and they should be able to engage him with these interests and build a strong and trusting relationship to help him boost his self-esteem. Flexibility, adaptability and working in a non-demanding way are key traitsfor his tutor to have to ensure they get the best out of him. This is a hugely interesting and rewarding opportunity to really make a difference to his life, maintain his levels of learning and grow as a person. If this sounds like the right role for you then please apply.Who are we looking for

  • Have some experience with SEN; Autism, ADHD, Demand Avoidance or Social Emotional and Mental Health needs
  • Be passionate about helping pupils overcome any barriers to learning and difficulties with engagement
  • Be able to build a rapport and strong relationship with children and their families
  • Ideally, have some experience of helping children with their learning and use a person-centred approach in their work
  • Make the wellbeing, achievement, and progress of your pupils central to everything that they plan and do
  • Have the determination, patience and energy to bring about continuous improvement in mental health and confidence.
