Job Description

Payroll Assistant - Part-time

  • Annual Salary: £30,000 pro rata
  • Part time - flexible on days and hours 15 hours per week
  • Location: St Albans City Centre
  • Job Type: Full-time, 12-month fixed-term contract
We are looking for a part time, Payroll Assistant to join one of our well-regardedclients in the heart of St Albans for a 12-month maternity cover contract. The ideal candidate will have experience with Sage Payroll experience. This role involves managingmonthly payroll for 140 staff and credit control duties, with the flexibility of hybrid working. Day-to-day of the role:
  1. Regular payroll duties including:
    • To manage and administer all aspects of the NPA’s monthly payroll using Sage software and on-line banking, ensuring that all employees are paid correctly and on time every month
    • To deal with payroll queries from staff/management in a timely manner
    • To provide tax related payroll information to ensure that tax liabilities are paid in accordance with HMRC timescales and other HMRC requirements are complied with e.g. P46, P60’s and P11D’s and the PAYE settlement agreement.
    • To provide audit information to the Finance department to support the annual audit.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience with Sage Payroll is ideal, but not essential
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Understanding of GPP and auto enrolment
  • Familiarity with Access Dimensions for accounts is advantageous.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
