Flexible start and finish times to work around you.LOCATION: WatfordCOMMUTABLE LOCATIONS: Hemel Hempstead, Luton, St Albans, Aylesbury, Stevenage, Milton Keynes, LondonJOB DESCRIPTION: Engineering Manager - Electronics - handheld - test equipment - power electronicsYoull be site based with us as our new Engineering Manager, running our busy and diverse R&D department. Your many responsibilities will cover the overseeing of a team involved in electronic circuitry, firmware, and the mechanical design of portable and handheldelectrical test and measurement equipment. So youll need to have a solid background doing that.It is essential that you have a strong electronics background and a good all-round engineering appreciation as our R&D department covers analogue and digital electronic design including firmware for low STM power micro-controllers, PCB & mechanical design andtest. You can see the role is quite diverse.About 80% of your challenges will be Electronics related and there will be plenty of NPD projects (we release new products each year). We are also tasked with the redesign of existing products due to the obsolescence of components or changes to production etc.Reporting straight into the Managing Director, you will manage sales, marketing / product management, our suppliers and quality control whilst line managing 5-6 engineers and our subcontractors too.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Engineering Manager - Electronics - handheld - test equipment - power electronic· You will lead our R&D Department covering research, innovation, design, NPD and product / component test · You will have the awareness / appreciation of UKCA / CE / EN61010 standards · You will manage various projects at different stages running concurrently · You will lead, develop and mentor your engineers aiding in their career progression · You will be comfortable customer facing and dealing with supplier issues where needed with potential travel tooYOUR BACKGROUND: Engineering Manager - Electronics - handheld - test equipment - power electronics· You must have a strong electronics background (education and/or practical) and a great all-round engineering appreciation of the development of technology / products and how they all impact each other · Awareness of the need to comply with product specific & UKCA/CE standards and the willingness to learn appropriate standards such as EN61010 in detail if you are not already aware · Project management experience to handle multiple projects simultaneously · Strong people manager to deliver various projects on time · Comfortable dealing with various customer and supplier issues when neededTHE COMPANY:We are a well established branded manufacturer of portable / hand held electronic test equipment.PROSPECTS:A chance to join a well established branded manufacturer and have full autonomy for the engineering department including R&D, Design, Project Management and Test.It is highly likely you will have worked in any of the following roles and/or markets, and worked with the following products and/or services: engineering manager, technical manager, R&D, electronics, micro-controller, analogue, digital, test, mechanical, firmware,PCB, circuitry, UKCA, CE, EN61010.INTERESTED Please click apply.
