Job Description

This role is integral to how the Regional Leadership team drives performance and plans, managesand controls store operations through effective team engagement, development and succession planningKey Responsibilities:

  • Acts as a direct communication channel for Company Strategy, business priorities and targets for the Division and ensures there are systems in place to enable the Regional and Area Management team to effectively support the delivery of The Plan.
  • Supports the Retail Operations Director with ideas about the future delivery of the strategic Plan, maintaining up to date knowledge of the marketplace, competitors and trends.
  • Uses open feedback mechanisms from the Store teams and Regional team to inform the Retail Operations Director of Store feedback and suggestions, to ensure integration of store operations and other Majestic activities.
  • Completes the Regional retail element of the annual budget process, ensuring understanding and buy-in from the Regional management teams. Constantly reviews financial data and supports the Regional Managers in providing realistic input into sales budgetsand cost control.
  • Translates strategic goals into a Regional operational plan, to achieve the required targeted growth in sales and profit.
  • Supports Regional Managers in identifying and optimising promotional opportunities, ensuring these are coordinated with wider Majestic promotions and campaigns.
  • Lead role in building strong Sales culture within Regional and store teams, coaching Regional Managers etc.
  • Provide advice and guidance to Regional and Area Managers covering the full range of People and Operational issues as needed, working cross functionally to ensure appropriate result.
  • Spends time in stores with teams and customers, to understand and identify business critical issues, to ensure alignment of daily store operations and the delivery of the strategic goals.
  • Maintains and nurtures Majestic company culture and values in all store related initiatives.
  • Ensures through Regional Managers that Retail Operations complies with all policies and procedures relating to Health, Safety, Security.
  • Proactively manages and reviews the performance of Regional Managers and their Store teams, completing Regional
  • Manager performance appraisal reviews, set annual objectives and agree personal development plans.
  • Support HR teams in their activities to recruit, train, develop store employees.
  • Works with the HRBPs to ensure that people and succession plans are up to date and any people issues are satisfactorily resolved.
  • Supports activities of Property Development team including site visits and operational planning of revamps and new store openings
  • Periodically produce and present a range of business performance reports for the Retail Operational Director as required
  • Ensure Regional teams drive high levels of store standards in line with company expectations working collaboratively with the property team to resolve issues cost effectively and in a timely fashion.
Knowledge & Skills Required:
  • +5 Years business experience including relevant multi-site operations gained within the retail sector.
  • Experienced in managing relationships at a Regional Management level and engaging and leading a diverse team of people across different business functions.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to contribute to and successfully deliver against a business strategy.
  • Must possess a track record of increasing and sustaining sales growth and profitability in positive and challenging market conditions.
  • Experienced in managing budgets and track record in controlling costs.
  • Must demonstrate a proven ability to motivate, coach and develop people.
  • Excellent communication skillsverbal, written, report writing and group presentation.
  • Well developed interpersonal skillsinfluencing and negotiating.
  • Strong organisational skills, demonstrating an ability to get things done and achieve business goals, setting clear and effective priorities, co-ordinating activities and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong leadership skills to successfully build and lead teams. Consultative management style with the ability to be directive when necessary.
  • Independent minded and able to take initiative. Demonstrate resilience and flexibility.
  • Hold a full UK/EU/EEA driving licence for at least 12 months
