Reed engineering are supporting a local business who due to expansion are looking to grow their quality department.The position as a senior quality control inspector you will be responsible for all aspects of quality control before releasing to production. This role is a senior position within the quality department which reports directly into the Quality control co-ordinator. However you will be liaising with various other departments, parts, supplier and design co-ordinators.Job roleResponsible for the inspection of incoming parts using all necessary inspection equipment against technical drawings and working closely with all departments and relevant co-ordinators. The inspection will include dimensional and cosmetic checks, referring to golden samples held in department. It is essential that the correct quality control quality control documents are filled, recorded and saved on file for traceability of inspection processes and part history.Good house keeping and organisation skills are essential.Work closely with design team to understand key parts and their critical dimensions.-Able to produce NCR’s and supply detailed reports to suppliers on faults found.-Ensuring all reject parts are correctly documented in a timely manner, communicating with the suppliers is paramount to ensure the fault does not continue. Build and understand history of problematic parts and suppliers which can be applied when new deliveries are received.-Ensuring correct stock movements of parts on ‘Factory Master‘(FM) MRP system, through QC department and into Warehouse and/or departments, training will be given.-Inspected parts to be clearly labelled before leaving the QC department.Work and be understanding/empathetic of production teams’ issues, feeding back to QC co-ordinator and design team where necessary, if parts and processes can be improved. Being clear with production about agreed and acceptable quality levels.Key skillsKey Skills-Previous experience in similar manufacturing role is essential.- Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances and technical specifications. High level of experience with the use of standard inspection equipment i.e. Vernier Callipers, micrometer, optical measuring equipment, these will be provided.-Excellent communication and decision making with team-mates across many different disciplines.-An understanding of various manufacturing processes to aid in inspection and feedback to supplier.-Team Player who can work efficiently with minimal supervision.-Analytical, logical thought process and meticulous attention to detail-Able to be confident to accept and reject parts.
