Job Description

Do you have experience of lead engineering on seating design and development activitiesCan you work permanently in the Essex areaA successful design and manufacturing business, part of a group with multiple locations (UK and abroad), is currently seeking a Design and Development Engineer with experience and expertise in seating design and development (for automotive, aerospace or rail).What does the opportunity offer

    • The role:Lead seat design and development activities, including:
  • Leading the design and development of new seating products including managing small design teams
  • Preparation of drawings and documentation
  • Providing technical leadership in mechanisms, comfort, materials and other seating product-related knowledge and technologies,
    • The candidate:
  • Degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering or similar
  • Design and development of seating products for aerospace, automotive or rail
  • Experience using 3D CAD tools
  • Experience of DFMA approaches
  • Broad knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes
  • Experience designing upholstered / trimmed products
  • Team Player
  • Strong Work Can-do Ethic
  • Additional experience would be highly beneficial (e.g. designing composite structures and/or moulded/formed components, electrical actuation systems, structural analysis/stress calculations etc.)
  • Living within a reasonable commute to the South East Essex area or willing to relocate.
  • Able to live and work in the UK without restriction
