Job Description

Our client is recognised as an international market leader in the design and manufacture of hydraulic valves and electronic control systems. The business serves a worldwide market through its sister companies and distribution network with products spanningboth industrial and mobile equipment. Due to continued growth, the business is now looking to recruit an experienced Manufacturing Quality Inspector / QMS Engineer, reporting directly to the Engineering Manager. This role will contribute to the efficiency and profitability of the business by providing an effective quality inspection service for manufacturedgoods in accordance with drawings and manufacturing standards. This role will also oversee company quality management system processes and development where necessary.Main Responsibilities:

  • To ensure that all products leaving the premises meet customer and company specifications.
  • To comply with all procedures and systems, whilst also helping to maintain and develop QMS.
  • To perform regular product evaluations, record inspection results, and recommend improvements.
  • Inspect manufactured goods to engineering drawings and ensure they meet drawing standards.
  • Work alongside manufacturing to inspect parts as being machined.
  • Inspect and ensure all components leaving manufacturing are free from defects, swarf build up and meet the companys standards of finish.
  • Help develop machine shop quality processes and continual improvement methods.
  • Operate and contribute to the effective operation and maintenance of CMM and other specialist measuring equipment.
  • Maintain and develop QMS records and processes, ensuring ISO and UKAS accreditation requirements are adhered to.
  • Effective storage and presentation of manufacturing documentation records.
  • Prepare and maintain inspection records and ensure they are stored in the correct location.
  • Liaise with suppliers on quality issues and preventative action reports. When requested, visit suppliers on site using company vehicles when required.
  • Create and maintain Non-Conformance Register (NCR) for any issues with manufactured goods. Ensure NCR register is kept up to date and stored in the correct location.
  • Liaise with internal staff and design department for issues relating to manufacturing.
  • Maintain upkeep of inspection equipment, including calibration records.
  • Create and maintain bespoke inspection records for manufactured goods when required.
  • Discuss with design department any design-related issues during manufacture to ensure design standards are reviewed.
  • Source any updated or new inspection equipment and present for purchase.
  • Ensure additional processes such as anodising and painting standards are inspected and to correct specification.
  • Maintain and archive Company files and records effectively and adhere to the General Data Protection Regulations 2018.
  • Attend training courses when requested and maintain knowledge and skills required for your duties.
  • Assist in the annual stock take if required.
Key Skills & Experience Required:
  • Suitable candidates must have previous experience within a similar Quality role, ideally from a hydraulics background.
  • Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Good communication skills and a team player approach.
  • Conscientious, methodical, and organised.
  • Flexible and capable of managing changing priorities and tasks.
  • Able to use own initiative.
  • HNC or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering is desirable but not essential.
Additional Information:
  • This is a full-time permanent role working Monday to Thursday 8.30 am - 5 pm and Friday 8.30 am - 4 pm. Though earlier start and finish times can be discussed.
  • 31 days holiday including Bank Holidays.
